Tibetan Mala Bead Earrings with Faceted Smoky Quartz

Tibetan Mala Bead Earrings with Faceted Smoky Quartz

You don't have to travel to Tibet to find pretty earrings such as these. These earrings have been created by MannyBeads. Per the artist's description: "These earrings are another in my Mala Bead series. The Mala bead is one of my favorite design elements. I use it, or variations of this type of bead in many designs. It just wants to be paired with other beads and appreciated. It is salvaged from the remains of an old Tibetan Prayer Mala. Prayer beads of this kind have a number of different types of inlay and these have a beaded band of Brass. This bead is 11mm x 4mm. You can see how the surface of the brass has been softened, worn smooth by the many hands that have held held and caressed it, keeping count of the mantras. For me, each bead carries with it the spirit of all of those prayers. The Mala bead is stopped by this thick, 11mm x 7mm rough-cut Smoky Quarta rondelle. I love it's uneven facets and just how this stone catches the light. The earrings are topped with a thin daisy-shaped and flattened spacer. The earrings are .625" in total length from the bottom of the Sterling Silver earring wire. They are strung with Sterling Silver as well."

This gorgeous necklace has been created by Bhakti Beads. Per the artist's description: "Our Garnet and Turquoise Mala is made using deep cranberry garnet and bright natural turquoise rounds, and is accented with tiny peridot details and a sterling silver OM pendant. OM is an ancient Sanskrit symbol representing the creation and origin of all things. The length of the mala is thirty-two inches, with the OM pendant adding an extra half inch. Mala is an ancient Sanskrit word meaning "garland of flowers." Malas have been used for many centuries to honor respected people and deities in India, but the word has also come to signify anything that is strung together in a similar manner, including rosaries used for spiritual practice. All of our malas are strung on stainless steel beading wire for optimal durability. We use only genuine semi-precious stones, and never any man-made or dyed materials. Metal findings are either .925 sterling silver or 14k gold fill."

Per the artist's description: "10mm Tibetan mala beads, 8mm rutilated quartz beads, turquoise discs, silver beads, and vintage African trade beads bring serenity and a touch of fun! Mala beads are used in the Buddhist traditional of devotion and meditation. They are used to count mantras. Rutilated quartz amplifies the energy of quartz. Relieves tension and is said to deepen altered states."
