Sonic Fabric Tell-Tail Thangka by Alyce Santoro

Sonic Fabric Tell-Tail Thangka by Alyce Santoro

Alyce Santoro creates sonic fabric from recycled cassette and 8-track tape. The tapes used to create this fabric were recorded with "the Sounds of (1/2) Life collage, including sounds collected in the Peruvian rainforest, Jack Kerouac, [her] high-school punk band, the Beatles, and Beethoven." The resulting flags were inspired by tell-tails used on saleboats to judge wind direction and by Tibetan thangka prayer flags. A percent of each purchase goes to Tibetan aid organizations.
