Fresh, citrus unisex fragrance with a hint of a masculine "cologne" smell. On me, it has strong citrus notes with slight floral and musk undertones. 4711 is a perfect balance of several scents without being too sweet, strong or worse still--overpowering. It's a 'serious' kind of light scent. This fragrance is why we call cologne "cologne." Originally the recipe was given as a wedding gift to a German businessman and his bride in the late 1700s in Cologne, Germany. It soon evolved into 4711 (named for its street address) and was known as "Kölnisch Wasser" aka, Water of Cologne. Et voila, Eau de Cologne was born. 4711 is one of the oldest fragrances in the world, and it still stands the test of time. For men and women alike!
