50:50 Shop Deck
Most modern "popsicle shaped" skateboards (excluding specialist boards like longboards and slalom boards) are virtually identical in shape, size and concave. This means most people choose boards based on the graphics or allegiance to a particular company or team rider. In the skate world there has been a lot of controversy recently with the large companies trying to stop people buying cheaper blank decks so they are forced to buy more expensive pro-models. The alternative is a shop deck bought from your local skater-owned skate shop - a quality board, and more profit goes to the skate shops. The other nice thing about a shop board is that it is a conversation opener when travelling around - people spot the shop logo and say "from Bristol are you?"
