Bas Bleu: Immoveable Feast - A Paris Christmas by John Baxter
Aside from my grandmother's legendary pudding recipe (which has yet to be located), few things have been a constant in the various Christmas dinners I have shared with family and friends. But, then, I am not French. Neither is John Baxter, but that is what makes him the ideal writer for this task: to explain what it is like to cater to a French family every year at Christmas. What might be a nightmare for some, Baxter undertakes with good humor and great talent. We are the lucky ones to read the resulting vast storehouse of cooking wit and wisdom.
