Madeline Weinrib Atelier: Slipper Chair

A design originating in the 1940's, Ms. Weinrib has resurrected the bare bones of this chair by imbuing it with the boisterous spirit of her black and white suzani upholstery. I would love one of these chairs for my home office, but they would also look lovely in pairs. If you really want to try a new approach to home entertaining, you could purchase an entire set for your dining room.

She now has her own space (known as the Madeline Weinrib Atelier) within the store, located at 888 Broadway, New York, NY. I love cotton because I'm slightly allergic to wool, but also because it seems more appropriate for spring and summer, when we ourselves are wearing lighter clothing. The carpets themselves range in size from a small 3-foot by 5-foot throw to a 3-foot by 9-foot runner.

These silk pillows range in size from an 18" X 18" throw to a 2' X 9' bolster, and several sizes in between. If you like one or two particular patterns, you could nearly redecorate any entire room with varying pillow sizes and patterns. And Ikat patterns seem particular well suited to the warmer months, as exuberant as are their colors and vibrant their patterns. You may actually find yourself making a special trip to Ms. Weinrib's Atelier just so you can see this splendor up close and personal.
