Butterfly Dress, Smoke

Butterfly Dress, Smoke

I was at the thrift store on friday and saw an old 40s style dress with sleeves. It got me thinking about sleeves. I've been loving sleeves recently. Open arms are everwhere, but a dress like this butterfly dress has open and flow-y arms that allow you to cover your arms without getting too warm. I'd rather highlight my legs than my arms and this dress allows me be set.

I'm not sure I see picasso in this dress, but the queen anne neckline (love it!) and the bold raspberry and tan stripes make me adore this spring time dress. It's above the knee and looks like it could survive the transition into summer (make it more casual with a pair of flip flops instead of a cardigan and heels for the spring). I'm a pale girl, but I think the colors in this dress would look nice on someone more tan (and less freakishly pallid than me).

My favorite part of spring is that the fun gets to come back out. This party dress from Nanette Lepore is just the kind of I'm talking about. It's bright, cheery, in a fantastic color and is perfect for going out. The cutout lacy pattern on the dress keeps it looking young and feminine even though it's short, short, short.

Spring brings with it that hint of femininity and whiff of the right to, no matter how strong you are, be that pretty little flower. This D & G spring dress hits just above the knee and practically floats around you as it's made of chiffon. The springtime green brings to mind apples and new grass and just general dewy newness. By itself when it's warm or paired with a cute little cardigan, this dress would dominate my spring wardrobe.

Yellow isn't cowardly in my closet. Rather a sunshine-y yellow belongs on the warmest days of spring when you are trying to banish the winter blues, or on a beach where a bright yellow is in tune with the happily garish atmosphere. This yellow brocade dress is so sunshiny and bright! I can't help but want the temperature to get warm so I can wear it!

Instead this winter had turned cold and my thoughts drift south to the beach. A dress like this Van Gogh inspired print from Michael Kors would be perfect for a night out on the water. Light enough to slip like air into your suitcase and cheery enough for the perfect summer or warm weather resort, I just want to take this dress, my burberry swimsuit and take off for some place warm.

When I was little my stepmother ordered this dress from a catalog, it was the ugliest hting on earth and I am the only reason she kept it, because it was warm. And after a cold day outside skiing, skating and the like I'd wrap myself in a dress 5 sizes to big (as everything is when you are 8) and warm up. Somewhere along the way I lost that dress (or my aesthetic side finally banished it from my house), but this cashmere dress is the best replacement I've found. It's warm, cozy and the beading makes it not so casual it looks like you are being super scrubby.

This dress would have been perfect. Everything about the cami dress screams casual. The twisted knot on the chest slightly makes me think this dress belongs in the bedroom, though that makes it perfect for a summer eve.
