It's got a bunch of great meals that are very easy to prepare, but are also very healthy. Dr. Bowden simplifies healthy cooking, making it as straight forward as possible for the reader. His recipes are not just easy to follow, but they are delicious. I recently made his Thai Spiced Prawns and Curried Quinoa dishes for my Dad's birthday. The meal didn't take long to prepare, and it was a huge hit! No one even knew they were eating some of the healthiest foods under the sun! I highly recommend this book for any health minded cooks, parents, and dinner hosts out there! Worth mentioning also- Dr. Bowden included a section in his book with vegeterian and vegan meals, and in many recipes he will provide a vegeterian or vegan alternative.

OH, HOW i adore this cookbook. it is beautifully done, organized, and features photos that make my mouth water while looking at them. i am not too fond of the cover of this book, however, as it does no justice whatsoever to what you'll find inside - so if you see this on the shelves..OPEN it.. you will see its glory! fabulous. a must-have for every mom. it offers well-conceived creative ways to incorporate healthy ingredients into recipes. they'll never know ;) [i may add - while these recipes are geared towards being kid-friendly.. they are still sophisticated and lovely for any palate. i am giving a copy to a friend who cannot get her husband to eat vegetables.. ha!]

Photographic guidance for growing garden vegetables in containers, followed by recipes using what has been grown, like carrot and orange muffins. Some of the writing has an even more self-consciously dumbed-down air than that in most how-to books for children. But the instructional photo sequences get down to business sensibly enough, and the whole visual experience implicitly suggests the connection between freshness and flavor.

Though there’s a good deal here for the youthful sweet tooth, the intended audience also ought to have a taste for things like vegetable sushi and Thai-style green curry.

Mollie Katzen, author of the Moosewood Cookbook, provides a vegetarian collection primarily for the preschool crowd. The recipes are split equally between instructions for adults and numbered-step words-and-pictures summaries for children. Mollie has a good sense of small children’s powers and limitations, and sensibly recommends planning cooking sessions “for in-between times” when no one is hungry enough to get cranky.
