I try to see this movie at least once a year, as I grow older Brazil seems to make more and more sense - it is prophetic, and gives a great sense of perspective about the absurdities of our bizarre social norms. Personally, I think this is one of De Niro's most endearing roles...he's so NOT De Niro, but my absolute favorite perormance/character/message in the whole film is Katherine Helmond's (a la Who's The Boss) role as Ms. Ida Lowry. This movie is a classic for sure, and so very very Beep.

So this may actually be one of the smartest movies I have seen in a while. True, there is a LOT of crap out there, but that doesn't change the fact that this movie is brilliant. Basically, it tells the story of this guy Tony Wilson and how he made Manchester the center of music in the seventies. It is build like a documentary and it's entertaining as hell! Tony Wilson makes so many smart, sarcastic side comments, you can't but smirk most of the time. You get a pretty good idea on the atmosphere of the time, not to mention on the musical scene. Joy Division, The sex pistols, New Order, Happy Mondays.....just to name a few. It's definetly worth watching! (and yes, I jumped up and down like an idiot when they showed Janie Jones from the Clash for miserable 5 seconds).

Obama also said in an Entertainment Weekly interview that this was the last movie he saw. That may or may not have changed since that interview, but nonetheless its a great movie!

Humor, gore and violence have certainly become the trademarks of Guy Ritchie's films, but this film really pours it on thick, keeping you on the edge of your seat right up until the last scene of the film. I'm just wondering why ... I'm just wondering why they didn't pick any one of these guys, particularly Jason Stratham, to be the next James Bond.

You don't have to be a BBC hound to love the BBC version of Robin Hood. In fact, I kind of hate a lot of BBC stuff. But Robin Hood? Is very extremely excellent work. Sexy, speedy, funny, smart. Watch it.
