My housie was once obsessed with this game. German made, the object is to manage and build cities and roads and such. Trust me, the allure comes much more once you play, which is why this game has won multiple awards

I travel a lot for work and for the last year I have wanted a Nintendo DS. I love puzzles and games and typically bring some crossword puzzles or something along with me, but they get crumpled and ripped and are kind of bulky. P... With a DS I can swap between arcade style games AND brain teasers.

It's available for Windows, Mac OS and Linux. The game involves splitting up into teams to capture targets, vehicles, and to dominate the playing field. It's a great way to improve your reflexes and learn to play as a team.

Sure 'nuff, it turned out to be a fun and challenging strategy game that the whole family enjoys. I am consistently impressed by the wide variety of German-style games available. Carcassonne uses similar playing pieces to other games (tiles and "meeple") but the way they are used is completely different from other tile games, making it fun to learn and play. Carcassonne a bit easier (and faster) than Settlers of Catan and about the same level as Ticket to Ride; I think it's going to be more popular with our family than either.

You see people on the subway with these all the time; they're a small handheld gaming system that is eminently portable and eminently distracting. There are hundreds of games available for them which makes them good for just about anyone.

In fact, the closest I've come to making music, sweet music, is an unfortunate incident involving drunken karaoke and a sing-along with Kelly Clarkson in a casino gift shop which was, unfortunately, witnessed. That said, I'm pinning my hopes on Wii Music. Maybe with an all-ages instruction video game, I can graduate to the level of proficiency wherein I'll be able to at least plunk out the plaintive notes of chopsticks instead of composing an original piece reminiscent of a piano being tossed down a mountainside. ;)

A great way to get your little ones in on the Guitar Hero or Rockband fun without having an expensive gaming console. Just plug and play for an extremely reasonable price. Groove with 10 of Hannah Montana's songs.

Not as hands on as say, a home-made volcano, but there's no cleanup, either.
