Marie Antoinette - The Soundtrack

Marie Antoinette - The Soundtrack

From the classical "Concerto in G" to the electronic sounds of New Order's "Ceremony" to the hard rocking "I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow, this soundtrack has a little bit of everything. Somehow the diverse elements sync together to become one cohesive whole . . . and a fabulous soundtrack.

  • Another Wes Anderson classic. Do I need say any more?

  • A very cute and touching movie about a young man with Asperger's syndrome finding love with his new upstairs neighbor. One of the better movies of 2009 for sure.

  • With Paul Giamatti as himself, this one is sure to be amazing. I mean, at the least, interesting. It's what happens when he decided to remove his soul.

  • Wait. What?! I've still been waiting for this to come out on DVD. Clearly I've missed a beat or something, either way, if you're putting Zooey Deschanel, Paul Dano and John Goodman in a film, I'm going to like it.

Screenwriters rarely develop a distinctive voice that can be recognized from movie to movie, but the ornate imagination of Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) has made him a unique and much-needed cinematic presence. In Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, a guy decides to have the memories of his ex-girlfriend erased after she's had him erased from her own memory--but midway through the procedure, he changes his mind and struggles to hang on to their experiences together. In other hands, the premise of memory-erasing would become a trashy science-fiction thriller; Kaufman, along with director Michel Gondry, spins this idea into a funny, sad, structurally complex, and simply enthralling love story that juggles morality, identity, and heartbreak with confident skill. The entire cast--Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Elijah Wood, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Wilkinson, and more--give superb performances, carefully pitched so that cleverness never trumps feeling. A great movie. --Bret Fetzer

He plays the "buckless yooper" who is ridiculed by his family and small town, and must get a buck before he becomes the oldest man in his family never to have shot a deer. Now I have to warn you, if you have never heard of or have been to deer camp, you probably won't get it and won't like it. But if you're from the rural Midwest or enjoy hunting, you will get a huge kick out of this movie. Plus you'll get to enjoy the beautiful scenery of my home state. :)
