You might not totally understand this movie the first time you watch it, but I promise all the information necessary to understand it is in there (you just have to watch it a couple more times). Jake Gyllenhaal, Noah Wylie, Drew Barrymore in a flick by Richard Kelly. Plus, it has an awesome 80s soundtrack. Listen to the commentary (especially on the directors cut version) and you'll think Richard Kelly is a very smart person.

This is an amazing Peter Jackson film (pre Lord of the RIngs) Jackson's career trajectory really leaves me confused. He went from gory low brow B movies like Bad Taste to mainstream fair like Heavenly Creatures to Lord of the Rings. Consistency, please. Heavenly Creatures is at first a sweet movie about the friendship between two teen girls that moves to being a little odd, to awkward, to disturbing. One of these girls is crazy and takes the other one to crazytown with her.

Having grown up not too far from Sleepy Hollow, I was more than familiar with the legend when I first watched this film. But director Tim Burton takes it another step creepier, making it all the more engrossing and intriguing. And, of course, Johnny Depp is the perfect Ichabod Crane, entranced by Christina Ricci's otherwordly countenance.

The suspect is her devoted husband. But viewing the world through the dim glow of the gaslight, it is difficult to tell what is real and what is imagined. The film stars Charles Boyer as Gregory Anton, Ingrid Bergman as Paula Alquist Anton, Joseph Cotten as Brian Cameron, Dame May Whitty as Miss Bessie Thwaites and Angela Lansbury as Nancy Oliver. Gaslight is an extraordinary film, generating its suspense not from an evil lurking in the shadows, but from the psychology of the mind itself. Perhaps one of the first "pure" psychological thrillers, Gaslight, just like Ingrid Bergman's eyes, contains the perfect blend of mystery, suspense, and beauty. An absolute must-see!

He is initially reluctant to help the police. The detective assigned to the murder seems happy to do nothing, leaving the investigation to a prostitute who witnessed the murder and the son of the deceased. I loved 'Dressed to Kill' - it is one of the quintessential thrillers of the 1980s and is a great suspense movie reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock.

This is one of my favorite movie because of its subject, my love for New Orleans and its cast. It is an intriguing, unusual, beautifully directed, highly atmospheric film that successfully crosses any number of genre: film noir, thriller, mystery, and horror. The plot is simple. In the mid nineteen fifties, a mysterious and slightly sinister business man, Louis Cypher (Robert De Niro), hires Brooklyn gumshoe, Harry Angel (Mickey Rourke), for a missing person case. Angel's investigation, for which he is being paid a princely sum for the time, takes him from Harlem to New Orleans, as he looks for a former crooner named Johnny Favorite, who sometime during the early nineteen forties apparently welched on a business deal with Louis Cypher and hasn't been heard from since. What happens when Angel gets to New Orleans will be infused with voodoo rites, ritual murders and taboo sex. All my favorites.... in a movie that is!!

One of Roman Polanski's more overt comedies, this 1966 monster spectacle stars Jack MacGowran and Polanski as a clunky but heroic pair of vampire killers. Called upon to rescue the beautiful and buxom daughter (Sharon Tate) of an innkeeper from a Draculalike bloodsucker, the duo muddle through all sorts of scrapes, the most intense being a scene in which a room full of dancing vampires realize the human interlopers are the only ones in the room who are reflected in a mirror. Scary and funny, the film has some unforgettable set pieces, a terrific score, one of the few records of Tate's extraordinary beauty, and vibrant performances. One of my favorite movies!!

The compelling Cracker is among the more exciting British mystery series from the 1990s, featuring a hero so flawed he's just as likely to end up inside a jail cell as outside chasing bad guys. Robbie Coltrane, perhaps best known for playing Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies, is unconventional psychologist Eddie "Fitz" Fitzgerald, a rotund teacher who exhorts students to look within their dark hearts and who gleefully embraces his own addictions to gambling, booze, and nicotine. The episodes in the first season are "The Mad Woman in the Attic", where a young woman is found murdered on a train, and the only suspect has amnesia. The next one is "To Say I Love You", a Bonnie & Clyde story where two young lovers go on a murder spree, and the last episode is "One Day A Lemming Will Fly", where a young boy is murdered and the only suspect is the boy's English teacher, who is also believed to be homosexual. All episodes are 2 hours long, so you can expect to spend a good 6 hours with this DVD set. Cracker is one of the sharpest, wittiest TV show and Robbie Coltrane is amazing. Season 2 and 3 are also available through Amazon.com. Do not miss!!!
