Trainspotting: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Trainspotting: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

This is a great collection of songs from an amazing movie. It starts out of "Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop, the jumps to Eno, Primal Scream (a great Glaswegian band), New Order, Blur, Lou Reed, Pulp, Underworld and Damon Albarn (late of Blur, soon to be of Gorillaz and The Good The Bad and The Queen). Terrific compilation of great music.

  • Blur is one of my favorite English alternative rock bands. With all these coffee/ambiance recommendations we need a little blur.

They're a virtual hip hop/ trip hop group. The whole group is a collaboration between artists Dan the Automator, Damon Albarn from Blur, Del the Funky Homosapien, illustrator Jamie Hewlett and Cibo Matto's Miho Hatori and more. This Album features cameos by MF Doom and the Happy Mondays Shaun Ryder. Favorite tracks: Every Planet We Reach is Dead Dirty Harry Dare All Alone

A fascinating documentary about the rise and fall of the Brit Pop music moment of the 90s. It may have barely made a blip in North America (I still cannot believe that Oasis is only known as "That Wonderwall band", but the genre made a lasting impact in the UK with much of the modern music being made there owes a huge debt to the bands of BritPop. Live Forever takes it's name from the Oasis song and certainly asks and answers the question "Where were you while we were getting high?" With compelling interviews from some of the major players such as Blur's Damon Albarn, Pulp's Jarvis Cocker and Oasis's brothers Gallagher who come across as bitter, depressed and as cocksure as ever, in that order. Live Forever sheds a light on the things in the background of the media-propelled musical genre of Brit Pop. Certainly fascinating and not just to those like me, who were and are fans.
