Miso soup is now the only 'safe' way to indulge in soy apparently: health pundits have now declared that 'Asian people traditionally only eat fermented soy'. (Never mind that tofu is not fermented.) Anywho, for people who can't be bothered to make miso soup from scratch, these pop-into-a-bowl and add hot water packs as convenient as tea bags. And like all good Japanese convenience foods, they don't need refrigeration. (Hint: don't try to open up a pack in a Swiss train compartment if you want to avoid people staring and muttering 'what's that smell??')

I love puzzles and games and typically bring some crossword puzzles or something along with me, but they get crumpled and ripped and are kind of bulky. P... With a DS I can swap between arcade style games AND brain teasers.

Swiss Army Knives are love. They can do anything. It'll come especially handy on your fishing expedition--cutting lines and gutting fish and whatnot.

This is a really handy little corrector pen to have. How annoying it is when you have just done your nails and there is some residue polish somewhere unwanted. Sure beats dipping a cotton bud into nail-polish remover.

Handy sunscreen, particularly if you plan on participating in sports and sweating off a normal sunscreen. With an SPF 30 it should keep you well protected without going home sunburnt and sore.
