I love this mobile...it's clearly made with baby in mind. Not only are the designs bright and high-contrast to engage baby right from the start, but it hangs in such a way that baby gets the best view in the house. So many mobiles... None of the video monitors are truly excellent but this is one of the best out there. My apartment was tiny so I used a regular baby monitor, but my friend's nursery was upstairs so this was a nifty gadget to have.

One of our best and most useful purchases (and one I rarely see on baby recommendation lists). Newborn skin is sensitive - no chemicals for the first few weeks. So the answer is just plain water and cotton/gauze for diaper chang... One of our best and most useful purchases (and one I rarely see on baby recommendation lists). Newborn skin is sensitive - no chemicals for the first few weeks. So the answer is just plain water and cotton/gauze for diaper changing cleanup. With this in the bedroom or nursery, you don't have to run to the kitchen or bathroom and wait for hot water while the little one is squirming on the changing table. Keep this on the nightstand, and you have an instant supply of hot water for cleaning baby's sensitive butt within handy reach. Obviously, the water comes out too hot to use directly on baby's skin, but after a few seconds on the cotton gauze or in a shallow bowl with some cool water left over from the last go around, it's cool enough to use. It is also perfect for making cups of tea for sleep deprived parents. And later, it is perfect for heating up bottles of milk. Just fill a big coffee mug and soak the bottle. Yes, I know you can heat water in the microwave in just a couple minutes, but the convenience of this thing given the stresses of new parenthood make it more than worthwhile. Really, one of the best purchases we made. There are cheaper brands of water heaters, but I have had great success with other Zojirushi products in the past.

We found ourselves desperate enough to let our little girl breath (and give ourselves a better night's sleep) that we finally resorted to this. We should have bought it sooner. This thing works like you wouldn't believe.
