The XLR-v is Cadillac's supercharged performance version of the cutting-edge XLR GT car. Built on the "drivable chassis" tube-frame architecture it shares with the 6th generation Corvette, this entry in the "SL" class of retracting hardtop luxury GT cars tilts to the more sporting side of that equation and delivers a distinctly more tossable and dynamic experience than the squishy Lexus SC and the dreadnaught Chris Farley-esque Mercedes SL. The tube-frame and structural center tunnel architecture of the XLR/XLR-v combined with advanced SMC body panels result in a relatively lightweight and strong car that undercuts the porky Mercedes SL/SL-AMG by about a quarter ton! At a steady 80mph, I can hit 25mpg. A full tank of city streets and jammed freeways averaging under 25mph will put mileage in the teens. Perhaps a motorcycle for those days? The XLR-v interior is lean, tasteful, clean and uncluttered. I like its straightforwardness. Cadillac's technology integration is best-in-class, with everything accessible with little or no fuss.
