iTunes Store: Eurythmics - Ultimate Collection

I was crushed when the Eurythmics broke up . . . I wanted them to continue making music forever. Fortunately, Annie Lennox has gone on to create some amazing compilations as a solo artists. But I will always love the raw emotion of "Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This" and "Here Comes The Rain Again." And I wouldn't mind if they decided to do yet another album. Please?

Alison Moyet can make the darkest hours heartbreak feel as glamourous as living in a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. On The Turn Moyet emotes from a place that only a few (Dusty Springfield, Jacques Brel, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Annie Lennox) can inhabit in song. Truly the kind of recoding to listen to alone with only Moyet's voice and burning ember of hope as company.

  • I've loved Annie Lennox since The Eurhythmics, can't wait for this to come out!

  • "Mommy.. Who's Annie Lennox?" ---one of the best voices to survive the 1980's.

Usually I'm into an artist because of their solo work, but Gail Ann Dorsey is too talented to remain fixed as just a singer songwriter. Her studio work glistens, her soulful voice, and solid production which refuses to conform with fashion, and gets better with each listen. Like many others I started to feel her pull within the bass lines and vocals she created with David Bowie, later I was seduced by her striking looks which accented the look of Bowie's live shows. (you know she's an excellent bass player, I'm surprised the Stones haven't tried to take her on tour). But then there are her other collaborations with TheThe, The Doves, Gang of Four, Tears For Fears, Khaled, Michael Hutchence, and Joan Baez. Wow! Nice work!

Before she took a time-out to devote herself to motherhood (another noble profession !), Annie produced this amazing collection of songs which saved me lots of money in therapy. I laughed and cried and screamed right along with this album, so much so that I practically know it by heart. It is an essential piece of my music library and personal history.
