Swedish Apple Pie (Apple goodness)

This is an incredibly easy recipe for apple pie. I would call it foolproof, but that might be dangerous. My ex-boyfriend refers to it as "apple goodness" and he now makes it himself fairly frequently. Ingredients: 5-6 apples, peeled and cut into chunks 1 cup flour 1 cup sugar 1 stick butter 1 egg cinnamon for sprinkling preheat oven to 350-375oF 1. melt the butter on the stove or microwave. allow it to cool while you peel and cut the apples 2. place apples in a pie dish (or a casserole if you want more) and sprinkle with cinnamon 3. mix remaining ingredients (flour, sugar, melted butter, and egg) in a bowl until they form a thick paste. 4. depending on how warm your butter was, you should be able to take the paste in your hands and flatten it out and place it on the apples. if it is too goopy, put it in the refrigerator for a little while. pat it between your hands to cover most of the pie and use remaining bits to seal the edges and any holes that may have happened. 5. bake until it is golden and bubbling and your kitchen smells good (45-60 minutes). i start checking it when it starts smelling good. 6. allow the pie to cool from its molten state. this isn't an elegant pie and you may end up using a spoon to serve it. it works wonderfully with vanilla ice cream. Alterations: you can make this with just about any kind of fruit that sounds like a good idea in a pie. i've done apple with cranberries for colour for thanksgiving, peaches after going peach picking, plums when they were on sale in the summer, and tried adding crystalized ginger. have fun with it.
