Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights

Me amo Diego Lugo ahora. Honestly, best dancing movie money can buy. It'll make you want to go to Cuba.

  • This movie is so good. Too bad its not in 3d. Blu ray hd is a must.

Hands down the best film I've seen this year. A brilliant first feature film by video artist Steve McQueen about the story of IRA member Bobby Sands and the hunger strike he undertook while imprisoned in the early 1980s. Without posing moral judgement, the film highlights the subjectivity and power of conviction as well as its possible profundity and futility. This movie is scarce on dialogue but has one of the sharpest written 15 minute, single shot dialogue scenes I've ever had the pleasure of viewing.

All of the elements of a good star trek flick were there... heart-pounding action, suspense, unexpected twists involving the space-time continuum. I'd expect nothing less from a film directed by J.J. Abrams (Lost, Alias). Here's hoping they make more like this.

Talk about an interesting cast worth watching. It stars Black Thought from the Roots, Naomie Harris, Rosario Dawson and Paul Dano as residents of a poverty stricken neighborhood in North Philladelphia (Philly! Woot!). The movie follows interconnected stories of love, relationships and poverty in this slice of life American tale. Looks powerful! In theaters March 6th 2009.
