Argan Oil from Josie Maran

Argan Oil from Josie Maran

OK, enough with the celebrity pet projects already...and I do agree. But as a Vitamin E addict, I am intrigued by this Argan Oil. With origins in Morocco, Argan Oil is rich in Vitamin E and can be used to heal and condition wherever it's needed - split ends, scars, cuticles, to name a few ideas. The best part is this is 100% organic - and comes in a recyclable glass bottle.

  • With all natural ingredients, this oil is a great remedy for both dry hair and skin that has been damaged by the elements of summer.

The species Argania once covered North Africa and is now endangered and under protection of UNESCO. The Argan tree grows wild in semi-desert soil, its deep root system helping to protect against soil erosion and the northern advance of the Sahara. This biosphere reserve, the Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve, covers a vast intramontane plain of more than 2,560,000 hectares, bordered by the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas Mountains and open to the Atlantic in the west. In the past, people made their own soap from animal fats and wood ashes. Now there are emerging soap makers like Destiny Boutique who make their all natural soaps from a long list of skin healing vedgetable oils such as olive, palm, coconut, soy, shea butter, argan oil, herbs, botanicals and essential oils. The reason these soaps are so great is because they actually moisturize your skin instead of stripping off the epidermis. Destiny Boutique's soaps are cold processed meaning the naturally occuring glycerin is left intact whereas many other soap companies choose to remove the glycerin that occurs during the soapmaking and sell it to the lotion industry. No wonder many "milled" and highly processed bars feel drying to the skin. Today there are very few true soaps in the traditional sense on the market. Most body cleansers on the market today are synthetic detergent products under the jurisdiction of FDA. True soaps are regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, not FDA, and do not require ingredient labeling. Some companies, mostly Signers of Safe Cosmetics like Destiny Boutique, chose to list their ingredients for consumers' review regardless if they are required by law or not. I have been using Destiny Boutique's soaps for one year. As a result I do not need any lotions anymore (well sunblock is needed). I used to have a problem skin with eczema and issues with rashes and dry skin. What a turnaround I had! No more flaky skin, no more itchy anything, no more problems. If you buy the soap, you will save in lotion money since after a while you will not need additional moisturizers. Besides most of the lotions in the market contain parabens anyways. Why would you want to put that stuff in your body?

Few months ago I was putting mascara on. What was the big deal about that is I realized that while doing the typical mouth wide open while applying mascara, two vertical lines appeared under my eyes. This was not funny, although I am getting up there in years. No body wants to see wrinkles, especially when you see them the very first time. So, what I did, I soaked under my eyes with argan oil for two days avoiding mirror at all cost. Argan oil comes from Morrocco and has more vitamin E plus very important nutrients that are reputed to reverse the signs of aging and dimish the appearance of wrinkles. When I finally got the guts to see myself in the mirror again and started with the mascara, I did not have a crack. Literally, those lines that I had just few days ago were gone. No more. And they never came back. All I have to say is argan oil really does work. Really. It's like food for your skin, and it is easy to see a huge difference in skin texture in just a few days. No wonder this stuff is in all high end cosmetics in Europe. it is worth every drop, and it is basically all you need to protect and moisturize. One small bottle will practically last you forever since all you need is two drops per application.
