One of the coolest music sites I've come across to date. It allows you to roam around and "discover" bands you like- then help to finance them. If you're in a band, you can sell "shares" to get to the $50,000 goal and record a professional album. Very nicely done site. Great premise, great execution.

Garrrghh. My cold heart can't take it. If you're by yourself on a rainy day, wandering the streets feeling utterly alone, don't listen to this song. It's quiet, beautiful and contemplative song.

If you ever get the opportunity to see them live the daughter will play the drums, the dad will play some sort of keyboard contraption and the mother will just put slides up on an old school projector and it'll probably be the coolest show you've seen (it was for me).

To be honest, I had almost forgotten about Beirut. I'm not really sure how because this was one of my favorite albums of '06 and he is completely amazing. Indie folk, pop lovers will all appreciate this one.

This song is great! Its got a bunch of little kids singing back up vocals about how nuclear war is a "mother f*cker" and you can "kiss your ass goodbye". How sweeeeeet.

Man Man is a great catchy, quirky band. The lead vocalist is a bit reminiscent of Tom Waits. This song is absurd, playful and mischievous. Perfect for drawing a moustache on your face. Or on your sleeping one night stand.

The understanding of complex musical nuances is very apparent - the theme of each song is known to the listener even before you grasp what the lyrics are about. Although I like their previous album, There is a Moth in your Chest, just as well, there is an obvious progression in maturity, structure, and cohesiveness on this album. It is very melodic and at times, quite dark... just take a chance and buy this one! If you'd like to sample them with a few single iTunes, I'd try "In the Mirror," "Dragging the River," or "Alone." You will NOT regret picking this album up, or supporting such a talented, friendly group of guys.

broken social scene has a great number of members which explains why it is characterized by a large number of sounds. This is their best album by far.
