Giorgio Armani Sheer Pigments Fluid Blush #18

Giorgio Armani Sheer Pigments Fluid Blush #18

All I can say is Wow! This is by far the star of the new Armani Beauty Spring 08 collection. I really loved this product (my first time using a liquid blush). This color appears bright pink (almost neon) in the tube, but it blended beautifully on my skin to a subtle rosy pink. This was just perfect for an everyday look, and gave me an incredible glow. The texture is simply divine. It only took a few small pumps of the liquid on each cheek and my fingers (or a small brush) to blend in and achieve a perfect look every time. This blush was very easy to blend onto my skin. The result was really polished and subtle. I also love that it gave me you a true glow, without being shimmery or looking greasy or shiny. The lasting power is also amazing. I was very surprised that this did not wear off quickly, since it is a liquid. This blush lasts as long if not longer than some of my favorite powder blushes! The product is also versatile. I also mixed a few drops with my liquid foundation and even my tinted moisturizer which gave me an incredible look as well. Using it this way gave my complexion a boost and made me look radiant overall (I choose to do this in the evening especially). Since it’s so pigmented and not much is needed to achieve a look, this will also last a very long time, which is another bonus! This is limited edition (spring 2008)…run don’t walk to get this one girls!” Note: If you have very oily skin, this should be used sparingly.

Ah, sunscreen, so many choices…and so little time. For my face, I am very finicky about the texture, the smell, the staying power and also the convenience level of the packaging (must be travel/gym ready). This new Clarins sunscreen was a relief in a sea of sunscreen I have been testing for the last month or so. I love the little cylinder tube which is super portable. The formula itself is very lightweight and on the thin side, but so concentrated I didn’t need much to cover my face (so it is very long lasting). There is a light fragrance, which dissipated quickly. The lotion glided on my skin without a trace of stickiness, white cast, or oil. The finish was matte. I found that it was light enough to be layered over my favorite serum and under my liquid bronzer or tinted moisturizer that I tend to favor in the summer months. As a matter of fact, this is actually the perfect skin primer before makeup application. The lasting power was fantastic on days I was working, running around outside or actually sunning at the beach. I had no breakouts or irritation from the product and it didn’t run or melt on my skin. It also left my skin soft and moisturized without feeling oily, so on the weekends I would just wear this with a little mascara and lip color and I was good to go! This is a non-chemical sunscreen which many of you will also appreciate. It’s made from 100% minerals. Yes, this is another product that is indeed worth every penny and I will be stockpiling! Note: As an added bonus if you are like me and always around computer screens, Clarins has added protection against electromagnetic waves in this formula.

  • I really need to invest in one of these. Every time I see one online I think about buying one but I haven't yet. But they are quite important to every girls make up cycle.

I have combination skin which gets very oily and shiny in my T-zone area. I judge how well a powder works for me based on how this area looks about mid day after applying first thing in the AM, and then how much more I need to get me through the end of the day, in addition to how it makes my skin look and how it feels on my skin. With this powder I was very impressed with not only how well it kept the shine down, but how nice and finished my face looked, whether I applied foundation/tinted moisturizer first or not. On most days after using this powder, by the afternoon I just needed a small reapplication, which took me through the end of the work day. The color of the powder itself is white in the case, but translucent on the skin. This was great because it was "goof proof" to get a flattering match to my skin tone*. There is no real fragrance to speak of and it has a nice texture. The powder was smooth going on the brush and silky on my skin. The finished look was matte, but with a nice brightening effect, so that it did not look like a mask. It was also easy to take along in my day or evening bag with the retractable kabuki brush and the magnetic closure on the powder case. Cynde has a great product here! *Note: You must use the powder according to these instructions: sweep the brush onto the powder, then sweep on the back of the hand to diffuse the particles further. Then apply to the t-zone first sweeping outwards to the rest of the face. If you apply the powder straight from the brush on to the face you will get a whitesh cast on your face which will also be prominent if you have darker brown skin.

Many cosmetic lines are featuring more and more beautiful works of art within the actual makeup palette, and this one is truly a stand out creation. This is part of the Lancôme Maharani Jewels Collection 2008. The image etched into the powder is a beautiful elephant, as an ode to India’s culture. The brilliance is that each of the 3 colors in the actual elephant is a beautiful shade that is part of the bronzer. There’s a light pink, deep shimmery gold and deep reddish/orange. The elephant itself is actually “raised” a bit for a nice 3 dimensional effect. The outer compact is a nice Tortoiseshell-brown which works nicely with the theme for this collection. I used my bronzer brush to swirl all the colors together and just loved the flattering, healthy glow effect it gave me (swatch above gives an idea of what it looks like together). This bronzer had just the right amount of shimmer, the color had very good staying power and best of all, this will work with all skin tones since the three shades work to pick up and enhance all undertones. For those women who have very dark brown complexions, this can serve as a very nice highlighter on brow bones and cheek bones used in conjunction with your blush. This just made me smile every time I wore it. Truly a treasure and will also be a collectors item for sure.

This cute little blue sponge is a jack of all trades. The sponge is firm upon taking it out of the clear plastic case, so the first thing I did was to the sponge and run it under water, getting it completely wet. It doubled in size and then had soft, pillow-like appearance. Next, I squeezed the sponge out very well so that it was slightly damp. Then I swiped it across my cream foundation and dabbed it first in the mid section of my face near my nose, sweeping it outward towards the edges of my face (cheek, forehead, and chin). Within a minute or two the foundation was dry and the coverage was fantastic. With the sponge I was able to get to all the corners of my eyes and nose. The top of the sponge is narrower and perfect for dabbing around the corners of the nose, or on blemishes, while the bottom, wider part is what I used to actually apply my foundation on the majority of my face. With the sponge, my foundation looked natural, yet had a very nice med/sheer coverage with a tad bit of a dewy appearance. For my concealer, I dabbed a bit directly under my eye with my concealer brush and then used the top narrow part of the sponge to tap into my skin until it blended seamlessly. With cream blush, I found the best way to use it was by tapping the bottom half lightly on the blush and then applying in a circular motion on my cheeks. Beautiful! This is a great little makeup tool that I’ll always have in my kit. Note: Here is a rinsing tip. Try rinsing the sponge after use by letting as much of the makeup wash off as possible with plain water. Then apply a small dab of a simple gel cleanser to clean any remaining makeup from the sponge. It doesn’t come with a storage case, per say, but you can try setting it atop the actual clear case that the sponge comes in to dry.

They really warm up my skin and enhance my tan, giving me glow that I love. I have not used many liquid bronzers, but I was intrigued that this formula was not only firming but suitable for face and body. I think this is a great bronzer and perfect for 2-in-1 double duty, especially for travel. The bronzer is a lightweight, thin, silky liquid that appears muted copper out of the bottle. Two pumps were all that was needed to cover my face. It glided on my skin and dried fairly quickly. The formula really evened out my skin tone and gave me a fantastic glow. It made my skin a shade deeper brown with copper undertones. It does have a touch of orange in it as well, which was flattering on my skintone. There is no shimmer, so it worked well with my powder blushes and bronzers to not provide overkill. It also stayed put and didn’t rub off during the day. It did not break me out or clog my pores and it hydrated my skin in the right places without feeling or looking greasy. On my body I really liked using it on my décolletage and my legs at night when I wore a dress and heels. I loved the feeling of the firming elements in the bronzer on my body especially, (after using it daily for a few weeks on my legs I did indeed see an improvement in the overall look of my legs). This will work best (and look the most natural) on shades in the Lucy Liu to Eva Mendes range by mixing a dime sized amount of the bronzer with a little moisturizer for the face. On darker shades and brown skin tones this is not needed. Note: Remember to wash hands after applying!

If you are looking for a bold, striking lip that’s not too dramatic or showy then this is the color! The formula itself is very pigmented (no sheerness here) with a soft satiny shine, without shimmer. The texture was smooth, and was very moisturizing for my dry lips. This is a long lasting formula, so the lasting power was fantastic and also worked well in humid weather for me. It is non-scented. This color is a dynamic medium-toned pink that will work well with many skin tones, best up to a Gabrielle Union shade. The packaging, as with all of the Dior products, is exquisite, glamorous and yet still simple. It’s the classic deep blue Dior’s cased with a touch of silver. This is simply a great lipstick that looked gorgeous on me!

It goes without saying that the design of this eye palette, like many of the YSL palettes, is exquisite, unique and truly beautiful. But it doesn’t just stop there -- the colors themselves are wonderful and perfect for summer. There are 4 colors in the palette which were inspired by various African terrains. There is a deep chocolate brown (with a touch of eggplant), a true orange (with a touch of rust), a medium creamy yellow shade and a beige shadow. The brown and orange colors are bold, but were buildable if I wanted a more dramatic look. None of the colors has shimmer, they were silky and easy to blend and were a pleasure to play with and combine. The lasting power of the shadows was also good. I didn’t think I would gravitate towards the orange shade as much as I did. The orange was very flattering and not shocking or over the top in any way. I loved combining the orange all over the lid in a light layer with the chocolate in the crease and as an eyeliner on its own or over my eyeliner pencil. I also liked using the yellow and beige for a softer look. These shades are varied enough with darks, brights and neutrals that it will work with all skin tones as well. There is a lot of shadow in the pan and each is very pigmented. This combined with the beautiful limited edition palette design makes it definitely worth the price.

I was as pleased as I thought I would be. This was the perfect product to use in the morning when I needed to get out of the door quickly or on the weekends when I just needed a basic look. I used this on my eyes, cheeks and lips and find it excellent for all three. The texture is a little dry (so if you have very dry skin a moisturizing primer is essential!) but I that's why it's so long-lasting. I applied it with my fingers, blended well and created a nice stain on my lips, and a nice flattering color on my eyes and cheeks. With this and a little liner, mascara and powder and I was ready in five minutes! This shade is a dusty, pinky peach, the perfect shade for me! This shade has enough red to give a me fresh looking cheeks, but also enough orange/pink tones to really warm it up in a sophisticated way. I just looked really healthy and glowy when I wore it. Also it seemed to bring out my eyes dramatically. It’s incredibly flattering and also very versatile. It has a great stay-put texture without being drying or cakey – my color didn’t fade at all during the day. This particular shade will work very well up to a Beyonce complexion.

This is the perfect mascara for everyday wear, or for those of you who like a natural, but enhanced look. Keep in mind it’s not for those of you who like “Va Va Voom” lashes, because it’s not a Volumizing formula. However, I found that it gave me a very nice and natural definition to my eyes without ever clumping or smudging (note: I did notice that it took a few minutes to fully dry, so be careful when putting it on). In addition, it has all natural ingredients in it, and didn’t irritate my eyes and rinsed off very easily at night. This was perfect for my daytime and office makeup look and was light feeling and looking. I loved the smell which was very subtle and feminine. This mascara was great because it just enhanced what I already have. The major plus for me was that it didn’t feel like I was “made up”, which is what I was going for!

I found this to be a great, non-greasy eye makeup remover. It completely erased all types of mascara and eye liner that I wore (regular, long wearing and waterproof) as well as foundation and lip products. The bottle looked small; however it lasted forever because I only needed just a tiny amount on a q-tip to remove my makeup. I used it every day (sometime 2x day if I reapplied makeup after the gym) and after a month I still had a 90% full bottle. It’s a very mild formula that was soothing on my eyelids, and didn’t irritate my eyes (I wear contact lenses). This is by far one of the BEST eye makeup removers I have used. It’s worth every penny and I won’t be without it now!

Now that I’ve tried this I can never go back. The unique 4 sided comb individually coated every single one of my lashes. It made them super long and defined. I usually look for length in my mascara, but this also thickened in addition to lengthening. The overall effects of this mascara are among the best that I have ever seen. I loved that I didn’t need lots of coats to build up the effect; my lashes looked magnificent after just one coat. Even better, my lashes also felt light and soft. The staying power was great and it did not flake or smudge at all! The tube design is as sleek and beautiful as one would expect from an Armani product as well.

It made my lashes look long, luscious and thick. I really did do a double take in the mirror the first morning I used it. It didn’t clump and held a curl better than almost mascaras I’ve tried. There was no smudging or flaking and it IS truly waterproof – I went swimming and into a sauna with it, and it stayed put, and looked incredible. The color of the mascara is a beautiful jade green color, which looks a little deeper on the brush than it did on my lashes – and I liked that it gave a definite hint of green to my lashes, but was still subtle. This is a great color that will work on all skin tones and for those of you who want to change up your eye look. For me, it really did bring out the dimension of my brown eyes as well, which was another plus! This is a beautiful luxury mascara with a color twist that is worth the price.

Yes, I have found an eye cream that has seriously made me rethink the entire eye cream category. That’s because with Zelens, from the first moment I looked at the box knew I was going to have a special experience. The box actually looks like it’s been created for an expensive piece of jewelry or designer wallet, with its deep green and brown coloring. When I pulled the satin ribbon, a velvet pedestal slid out which the cream sits on. The jar is a beautiful frosted green glass with a silver medallion hanging from the side. Even better, the cream itself is pure luxury. I loved the texture, which is gel/cream hybrid that’s light and velvety. It also has a very nice fresh smell. I was very happy to also learn that over half of the ingredients are natural, such as Green Tea, and Vitamins A, and C. The results are what amazed me next. Within 1 day of using the eye cream I saw a marked difference in the puffiness around my eyes, the lines were completely smoothed, my skin was hydrated for the entire day and the whole area looked brighter. As much as I loved it, I do have to say that I preferred using this in the evenings before bed to in the mornings before my concealer, as sometimes I would get a little residue as a result of the mix. I used it without fail every day for several weeks, and have now completely fallen in love! Extra Info: This product line was created by Mr. Marko Lens, a plastic surgeon and international authority on skin cancer and skin aging. The packaging is designed by Anouska Hempel (who designed The Hempel Hotel and Blakes Hotel in London amongst others).

This was a nice chance of pace – and with a great impact too! I’ve never used Givenchy mascara before, and I was very impressed not only but the packaging and luxury of this product, but also the performance. It gave me really intense lashes that were just as the color describes, black, but with a very nice tinge of deep purple, which I loved, especially for evening looks (It also photographs really well!). I had volume, (most importantly) length and no smudges, flaking or smearing. Two coats were really all that was needed (as a matter of fact, I only got clumping when I tried to layer it on more than this). This is a lovely mascara and I look forward to exploring more of Givenchy!

Sunny Yellow is part of their Spring ‘08 Color Fizz line. In the compact (very sleek, modern and I loved the mirror inside) it appeared to be as sunny a yellow as the name would suggest. When I applied the color on my lid, I found it very pigmented, smooth and very blendable. It's a great true warm sunny yellow color that really brightened my whole face. On me it showed up as a true yellow on me, but with a touch on gold. I also found that it worked well layered with bronzes and pretty caramel shades to create a soft, pretty look. I was very impressed with the staying power of this shadow, which was amazing. This can be applied lighter for a day time look that is quite appropriate for a work setting or more intensely for a more dramatic look in the evening. I also found that this color looked best with a dark brown or brown eyeliner to soften the yellow effect a bit. This color will work best on warmer complexions and up to a Gabrielle Union shade.

The Cooling Eye Gel Illuminator is one of my favorite products from the LUCI collection. It’s a very light cream eye shadow that appears to be an opalescent pearl shade out of the tube, but as soon as it hit my skin it turned into the most beautiful combination or soft pink, peach and apricot, reflecting different colors wherever the light hit it. It was noticeable but definitely not too over the top or distracting. I loved the effect! I used it on my brow bone on top of my cheekbones and even experimented applying it on top of a neutral power shadow. It really brought out my features. It very creamy in consistency and does have a very brief, cooling effect which was pleasant. I also applied just a little with a small brush on the inner corners of my eyes to brighten my entire eye area (great after a late night!). Because this color reflects light off of the skin, this looks great on all skin tones as well! On some people they will see more pink, others more of a peach or even violet tone at times.

This particular product is the perfect marriage of product innovation, luxury, and out of-the-box thinking in terms of product packaging. L.U.C.I EYES light color in motion duo eye shadow in Apricot is a brilliant shade. It looked so vibrant in the “shell” that it is encased in. As a matter of fact, the shell itself actually has a heft to it such that you really feel like you have picked up an actual shell on the beach! I also thought the peal in the upper left hand corner is a brilliant touch and the shell like detail on the outside of the shell case is just beautiful. As for the shadows themselves, I could do nothing but marvel at how the apricot when applied on my lid became this lovely mix of bronze, pink and copper. I often wore just this shade because I was so happy with it. But of course I wanted to try the white photonic shade that comes with it too at times. With just a touch of the white shade, the apricot became, pearly, iridescent yet not too bright. The way the light reflected off of the shade was amazing. I loved that essentially you can get three different shadow looks from this compact. I could use the apricot alone, the white photonic eye shadow over it, the white photonic shadow alone (or as a highlighter on the brow bone) or sometimes I would get a completely different color by putting the photonic shadow on first, and then the apricot! This color will work with all skin tones, but if you are darker than a Serena Williams shade, this will work better as a highlighting shade, mixed with deeper coppers and browns. This is truly an innovation in color cosmetics, and a definitely collector’s item for the packaging as well.

From the beautiful embellished flowers on a light luminescent pale pink background, to the shimmery gold case, this was a joy to look at and to use. I loved using is as an accent to my peach or coral toned blushes. The “pollen” center of the flower is a glittery hot pink (which actually goes on quite soft and complemented my skin tone nicely). I loved applying it on my cheek bones, and under the brow. When I wanted to use it as more of an actual cheek color, I swirled the pale and hot pink together with the soft brown to get a very flattering medium pink with subtle shimmer. This is very pretty for spring and will work as a shimmer accent for all skin tones, and has enough pigment to work as an actual blush up to about a Nia Long complexion.
