Clocky!

Clocky!

If you're anything like me (you know, with sleeping disorders and such), alarm clocks do you no good. They go off, you turn it off and you don't even remember doing it. This one goes off and runs away from you. That should do the trick.

  • Present your brain with a challenge, first thing in the morning! This alarm shoots the puzzle pieces into the air when it goes off, and it's up to you to stop the alarm by doing the puzzle.

I live in Texas, where at 9:00 at night, its still 100 degrees! Ugh! And, to make matters worse, my bedroom is upstairs in a house that was designed by northerners who didn't realize that they would need to make adjustments to some of the designs (like very high vaulted ceilings with no circulation). So, needless to say, my bedroom is always hot, but if I had one of these, I might be much better off at night! Ok, enough of my ranting. Here's what the company has to say about this cooling mattress pad: ChiliPadTM technology uses water instead of air to generate a wide range of in-bed temperature adjustment. Similar to the semi-conductor technology that cools your computer, water passes by the chip and depending on the direction of electron flow the water is cooled or heated. The water flows through soft coils in the mattress pad actively adjusting the temperature of the surface. There is nothing but water flowing through the mattress pad; all temperature change happens in the control unit placed conveniently under the bed. Using advances in semiconductor technology the temperature can change from 46oF to 118oF, at a fraction of the cost of air-conditioning. The result is the effect of a cool or warm bed throughout a night's sleep. The motor is virtually silent (under 20 dBa) and has been designed to fit under a standard bed frame. It is controlled in one degree increments with a hand held remote. The benefits of a cooler night's sleep are medically proven to increase the amount of REM sleep during the night. This is a revolution in sleep!

Using a sensor fitted into a wristband that is worn by the user, the aXBo actively monitors the user’s natural sleep patterns via a unique wake-up algorithm from a point 30 minutes prior to the time the alarm has been set to operate. During this period it monitors your sleep pattern and then determines when is the best time to wake you with the least impact. Interestingly for an alarm clock, the aXBo also offers a mode that will assist you in falling to sleep by playing one of three melodies and, as a result of the wristband sensor it will cease the melody once it has determined that you are sound asleep.

More gentle than traditional jarring alarms, this clock uses gradually increasing light, stimulating aromas, and peaceful nature sounds to awaken sleepers. At 30 minutes before wake-up, the clock's light begins to glow softly, brightening over the next half-hour. The warmth from the lamp releases faint aromatherapy scents into the air to stimulate the olfactory senses. Fifteen minutes before wake-up, the clock generates your choice of six soft nature sounds, such as ocean surf or songbirds.

Like a sunrise, the Soleil Sunrise Alarm Clock light/dawn simulator wakes you naturally and peacefully for the day ahead. The light alarm gradually increases the intensity of its special built-in light, simulating a natural sunrise. Your body wakes instinctively, as if waking with the light of the sun. This natural method of waking up leaves you feeling refreshed, energized, and in a better mood. Clinical studies at the National Institute of Health indicate that waking to light has been known to help people with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), various forms of depression, and sleep disorders to overcome their problems by increasing daytime energy, limiting winter weight gain, and allowing them to wake up easier.
