Bringing It All Back Home

Bringing It All Back Home

in my opinion, this is among Dylan's finest albums from this period. Everyone has a favorite and it's hard to pick just one with Dylan because so many are so damned good and for different reasons - he's so mercurial and changable and that is part of what makes him great. But for classic Dylan as we think we "know" Dylan, Bringing It All Back Home is the way to go with the songs that helped make his name and it has that gritty New York sound before he went too smooth and moved on to his next manager... this still retains all of the urban feeling that was still his New York sound and i love it for that

  • Nico's Chelsea Girl (1967) was not her debut solo effort. The album is an introspective with a longing for dreams and love.

  • Bob Dylan, another Obama favorite. This CD comes with 2 CD's worth of Bob Dylan's best music.

  • In his older age, Dylan really came into his voice. And his songwriting craft is none diminished with time. One of his strongest albums to date, a great album with roosty, bluesy sounds.

This and Bringing It All Back Home must be my two favorites, but you really cannot go wrong if you want classic older Dylan -- the sound is quite different and smoother here than Bringing It All Back Home, but it's wonderful as molasses. i own the original record of this and nothing beats vinyl - you can digitize vinyl and it maintains that vinyl feel and sound to it - much rounder sound .... better.

Probably my second favorite album next to Bringing It All Back Home - a true classic - if you can ever get the original vinyl, it's worth it (try eBay) for the liner notes and inside cover which are different but only if you're a die-hard Dylan person... Obviously, Visions of Johanna here and so much more make this album what it is - it's smoother than a lot of Bringing It All Back Home (to me anyway) but lovely. For a real treat, try to get your hands on the live Visions of Johanna 1966 at the Philharmonic.... that entire bootleg is amazing.
