Canon EOS Digital Rebel
It is am amazingly easy-to-use digital SLR camera that results in fantastic photos. I've used one for photography classes and at work (graphic/web design) and it's a joy to have access to one. Now if only I could afford to own one personally!

a great choice when you want to travel light - room for a dslr with a medium sized lens attached (my 55-200mm fits just fine), plus a small pocket for extra memory cards or batteries.

This is one of the best SLR bangs for your buck. The kit lens is surprisingly quite good. Excellent settings for control as well as a good auto setting if you're not quite in the mood to set your aperture, F-stops and ISO.

As far as digital SLRs go this one it the tops. I love it because it provide amazing photos in the prosumer price range. You should buy the lens kit version because it comes with an EF lens which will last years and allow you to... As far as digital SLRs go this one it the tops. A slightly lesser version of the XSi, I have a feeling the XS is going to be VERY attractive to A LOT of people (um, me) who are in the market for an SLR but are still choking on paying 800 dollars or more on a camera... though at... A slightly lesser version of the XSi, I have a feeling the XS is going to be VERY attractive to A LOT of people (um, me) who are in the market for an SLR but are still choking on paying 800 dollars or more on a camera... though at 699, we're still talking about a chunk of change, it's enough of a savings that I think the price break will turn out to pull in the crowds (me). And the differences between the two cameras for most folks will seem almost nonexistent. Need I say yummy?

A joy to use, the full-frame sensor performs gloriously. And it's been more rugged than I'd expected. It's my all-time favorite body.
