When I used to help my mother in the garden I'd always discard my gloves after two minutes because they were too big and unwieldy and made me feel like a carpenter. Enter these sleek green babies, more reminiscent of opera gloves than work gloves, they're bound to make you feel like a garden goddess. If it wasn't before, your thumb can now be green AND elegant.

As a trim carpenter and cabinetmaker I cut and fit a lot of miters. The old method of fitting miters meant gluing, then holding the miter while the glue set up, then nailing off the pieces, then coming back later to fill nail holes. With this gun, I can glue and instantly cross nail through the miter and nail off the work piece without ever having to readjust the miter or fill nail holes. Even better it allows me to glue and nail delicate mitered returns (such as on window aprons) without splitting the pieces or hold till the glue sets up. fantastic tool!

I love this compressor; it is small, light, and quiet. So quiet, in fact, that other tradesmen who encounter it are amazed at the muffled sound it creates, making it seem like it's running in another room when it is right next to you. Although it doesn't hold a lot of air, it is plenty enough for any trim nailer and it pumps up very fast. An exceptional tool for a trim carpenter or a do-it-yourselfer.

As a professional carpenter, I wear boots to work everyday and through the years I have tried many brands and styles; some cheap, some very expensive but I have never before had a pair of boots that were as comfortable as these Irish Setter 847 Wingshooter boots. There is absolutely no break in period. They are flexible yet provide ample support and durability. The heeled/wedge hybrid soles give great grip in mud and snow and allows me to walk walls, joists, and rafters without looking. The interiors are soft and cozy, allowing my feet to stay warm and dry in either summer or winter. I would rather wear these boots than any sneaker.

I have been a carpenter for over a decade and have always used 30# underlayment on my roofs...until this year. Now I use Roofliner. It comes in 1000 sqft. rolls but each roll weighs about the same as one roll of tar paper. Additionally it has better slip resistance, lays down flatter, doesn't rip, is water proof, can be exposed for months, and uses less fasteners. The comparative cost is much less than tar paper, especially considering it can be used to replace ice and water shield. I can easily say it is one of the best products to come along in my entire career.

It proved to be a great buy for use in the shop and, later when I became a trim carpenter, on site. It works great for precise sawing of sheet goods when used with a circular saw. It also comes in handy as a router guide when cutting dados, grooves, and rabbets. It clamps fairly square, requiring only a slight tap to adjust 1/32" or so and it holds firmly to the workpiece.

In that time I have learned a lot and collected many books on the subject of design and construction. But, this is the book I come back to most often. In this book Mr. Thallon lays out home construction from foundation to trim and more and gives a number of examples at each step to derive an answer from for any given construction conundrum. A must have for anyone who is into home building.

I am not a production framer, I tend to be more of a trim carpenter, so when I do frame I am finicky about the results. I want the cuts to be square and precise so that later when I trim, everything is nice and square. This blade is great for framing. It's thin kerf and 24 alternating bevel teeth cut fast and clean though dimensional lumber, engineered lumber, and plywood. A joy to use.

Issued in commemoration of Cash's 70th birthday, this double CD is a good survey of 1955-1993 career highlights (and a different release than the similarly titled three-CD The Essential Johnny Cash 1955-1983). Is it a good place to start? That depends on what you have or don't have already, considering that so many greatest-hits compilations containing some or much of this material appeared prior to this, yet another repackage. All of his very biggest hits are here, and it leans very heavily on his first 15 years of recordings, with just eight of the 36 tracks postdating 1970 (and only one of them, his 1993 U2 collaboration "The Wanderer," postdating 1986). For that reason some may complain that it doesn't give some phases of his career proper weight, and certainly not evenly distributed weight. But let's be cold about this: Cash's best records were between 1955 and 1970, and focusing on his early work, as this compilation does, means higher overall quality. It's too bad nothing is included from his acclaimed, unadorned 1994 album, American Recordings, but otherwise this will serve as a quite satisfactory best-of for those who want both the familiar hits and a few good, not-so-overplayed ones, like his versions of "It Ain't Me Babe," "Jackson," and "If I Were a Carpenter." ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide « less… more »

In Spaceball, players jump around in individual areas — both floor and walls — of a trampoline, and try to throw the ball past their opponent through a netted tunnel to the other side, all while bouncing up and down. Lauded by former astronaut Scott Carpenter as "the best conditioning exercise for space travel," the game's trampoline features a galvanized steel frame for minimal corrosion, a sturdy, polypropylene treated playing surface, and support for two players of up to 200 lbs. each.
