Cephalods and Organic?! I love that these aren't merely screen-printed... it's heavy, weighty applique. Brings a three-dimensionality to the artwork on the little one's chest.

This was the first photograph that really caught my fancy a while back. Again, there is an admiration of the beauty yet a repulsion of the reality of dead octopus mass. Art that creates conflicting feelings... yes.

Love the photography, but makes me a little sad that a dead octopus drapes a body. Hmm.... but a fascinating piece of art nonetheless because of the contrast of wanting to admire the beauty yet feeling repulsed by it at the same ... I've purposely stayed away from all things cephalopod because I WILL go crazy. The most amazing invertebrate on earth. Update: this was from Aug2008 ... I have now started a cephalopod list, oh goodness!!

This has been done so nicely. The head is comprised of very cellular-like forms, but still creates the globular mass that is often stiffened when put into a two-dimensional form.

Ok, so I admit, I'm not a fan of melamine - but in my defense, I'm just not convinced it is eco-friendly; however... the prints on these plates are just too hard to resist. So, I guess melamine for cold sandwiches would be alrigh...
