Folding Strainer
I'm someone who has an incredible amount of kitchenware and combined with an impossibly small kitchen, I can use every inch of space. Lucky for me, someone had the sense to create a folding strainer that stores flat.

This particular design has a silicone lid that securely attaches to the cup. The outside is matte and the inside is glazed. I prefer a version that Starbucks put out a few months ago. Their version is pretty much the same, but the outside is glazed (and of course has their logo) and the lid is plastic with a silicone liner to keep liquids sealed in. The key difference between the two is the price. "I Am Not A Paper Cup" is roughly $20 and the Starbucks version is $12. The upsides to either is that if you are a daily coffee drinker, you don't have to trash a paper cup and plastic lid every time you get take-out coffee. The downside is that both of them hold about 8 oz. - not favorable if you normally order a "grande" at Starbucks. Another issue for commuters is that it is not spill-proof or splash-proof. And finally, the Starbucks version CANNOT go into the microwave.

To use it, all you do is take out one of the buds, turn it around and shake it a little and you are good to go. Just place it back in the pot when you're done and your salt and pepper will always have a place to call home. Designed was the piece by the great guys over at Apiotek who have already provided us with the super smart Piece Of Cake. With the Salt and Pepper plant, the buds are hand made out of ceramic and the pot is solid wood.

Similar to a zen garden are balancing stones that are stacked to create a similar effect, it takes time and it relaxes and helps you focus. Why are we going there? Easy, this is inspired by stacking stones, except they are made to easily stack, taking the balancing act out of the equation. 3 stone shaped containers, the top white one is for salt, the middle dark gray one is for pepper and the bottom one is for a dipping sauce like soy. It's already beautiful as it is, but the fact that the stones have a different surface treatment, one is glazed and glossy, one is untreated and matt – is just another lovely feature to make this salt and pepper set even more special.

This is brilliant! Not only does it cut the cake neatly for you but it picks it up as well. That's just one utensil you gotta clean and no mess! Plus it's cute looking all swiss cheese-like.
