Le Rustique from the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills

Le Rustique from the Cheese Store of Beverly Hills

Cheese Store of Beverly Hills. When you're walking up Beverly Drive, you might catch the downwind, and crinkle your nose. WHAT IS THAT SMELL?!?! From anyone or anything else, the odor will be offensive, but from the Cheesestore of Beverly Hills, it's the luxurious fragrance of an entire store filled with cheese. The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills has everything, and Norbert and Tony not only know their cheeses, but are so genuinely sweet and enthusiastic that you'll want to take home a piece of everything. Restrain yourself. The store isn't going anywhere, and buying only what you need means you get to go back for more. The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills does gift baskets, and this aint' no Hickory Farms. Le Rustique is an impressive collection: Audoin de Dampierre Champagne, Marsanny Red Burgundy, Chassagne Montrachet (!), a 1 kilo Brie, 5 assorted cheeses, a large Panettone (someone else can take that - I don't love panettone), mustard, olives, pate, pistachios, a tin of cookies, French chocolate Truffles, Spanish Fig Cake, Chocolate Twigs, and a beautiful boxed set of four cheese plates featuring vintage Camembert labels.

In Europe, the DOP designation stands for Denomination of Protected Origin. Only certain food products with historical significance are given DOP status, which is controlled by government agencies. Once a DOP is created for a specific food, the various manufacturers must then complete a lengthy process to certify their production. For a product to get certified, it must be produced in a specific geographic region using accepted techniques. Only then can their label bear the DOP designation. DOP olive oil from Liguria must be made only from the taggiasche olive, an olive native to this part of Italy. A smaller olive with tremendous flavor, the taggiasche has hints of almond and a very fresh quality. An oil for those who crave the best the world has to offer, Olio Carli only makes very limited amounts of their DOP, with each bottle numbered serially. For their DOP oil, the olives are hand-selected and hand-pressed. Enjoy this superb extra virgin drizzled over steak, salads or especially fish.

This is a distinctly sweet, fragrant oil in the Provencal style. Different from Italian extra virgin olive oil, L'Oliver Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a fruity but mild olive flavor. As France's most respected oil specialist, L'Olivier consistently produces versatile oils with low acidity. For attractive shelf-presence, we offer this oil in a rustic, half-liter, stoneware crock, which also helps preserve the oil's freshness.

The unique flavor and limited production of truffles command a price of up to $900 per pound, depending on the type. A superb way to capture their flavor and extend their use is to make truffle oil by soaking them in olive oil. Truffles grow underground and range in color from almost black to off-white. The white varieties have subtler flavors than the black truffles and lend extra virgin olive oil an almost garlicky flavor with full, earthy overtones. The white truffle is in season from September to December and is also used raw, thinly sliced over pasta, risotto, or omelettes. It has a very strong, pleasant aroma. Truffle oils are generally not used in cooking, as the heat adulterates their flavors. Instead, they are added after a dish is prepared or used in salads and other cold dishes.

This extra virgin olive oil opens up on the palate with citrus and sweetly floral, grassy notes. Bottling only the first cold pressing oil, Bouteillan's nose carries the faintest aromas of almonds and green herbs. All of Mas Des Bories olive oils are bottled according to traditional Provence farming methods with native trees, producing an oil that is robust and smooth without a bitter aftertaste. In the low Alps mountain range of France, encompassing a valley and the surrounding hillsides, Mas Des Bories is the perfect environment for the nurturing of olives. The rocky, but fertile soil, with the wild thyme, laurel, and lavender produces wonderful, fruity light golden oil, which is unique in the entire world. This year, Mas des Bories, Bouteillan, and AOC won gold Medals at Hamburg, Germany's International Olive Oil Competition. Mas Des Bories extra virgin olive oils have won Best in Show at the Los Angeles County Fair; in Avignon, France; as well as gold medals in Marseille, Paris, and Munich.

Rich in early harvested frantoio olives, Campo Corto is bold in character with an intense grassy aroma with a hint of artichoke and aromatic herbs and a peppery finish that is truly incredible on the taste buds. Enjoy his robust, rustic extra virgin olive oil on roasted meats, pork and hearty sausage, salami, prosciutto and fettunta or make a bruschetta of freshly oiled grilled country bread. Campo Corto is Coltibuono's oil “con brio” - with Tuscan backbone.

It includes: Swedish Ginger Snaps: Imported from Sweden, these traditional cookies are packed with spicy goodness. (5.25 oz.) Vlaskaas by Beemster: Similar to Gouda but richer, creamier and deeper yellow in color, Vlaskaas' purple rind distinguishes it from all other cheeses. (8 oz.) Baby Gouda: Made from pasteurized cow's milk, enrobed in red wax and overwrapped in red cellophane, this cheese from Holland is darling and delicious. (9 oz.) Piave: This full-bodied cheese is born from the cheese making traditions of the land surrounding the ancient river, in which the curd is cooked and the cheese is aged until it is hard. (8 oz.) Bewley's Irish Crème Coffee: This Irish treat is made with superior quality ground Arabica beans flavored with a Dublin specialty, Irish Cream. (1.75 oz) French Country Olives: A colorful blend of green, pink and black olives with Lupini beans and bell peppers. (4.4 oz) Mini Toast: Perfect for elegant canapés and delicious snacks, you will love these little toasts from Holland. (0.9 oz.) Knipschildt Spiced Chocolate Sauce is a very balanced chocolate sauce spiced with chipotle (for a smoky flavor) and cayenne (for a little kick). (8 oz.) Georgia Peach Chutney : A celebration of Georgia peaches, this chutney enhances many foods, including roasted red meats or meat and cheese sandwiches. (11 oz.) Ovidias Belgian Chocolates: Fresh, cream-filled chocolates. (3.5 oz.) Bavarian Rosehip Jam: Rosehips produce a deliciously sweet jam with a slight tang and a beautiful red-orange color. The flavors are somewhat reminiscent (but not as sweet) of quality peach jelly, with a tart balance. (12 oz) Marcona Almonds: Sweet and delicate almonds from Spain. Roasted over a wood fire and dusted with sea salt. (4 oz.) White Stilton with Fruit: White Stilton, the young, immature cousin to the world famous British blue cheese, is extra creamy and deliciously tangy but somehow unfinished all by itself - much like plain yogurt. Hence the need to introduce a fruit. (8 oz) Jim's Organic Coffee - Peru: Peru is very lively and has a very flavorful fruitiness for a standout cup. They highlight these elements with an ultra clean and velvety full city roast. (12 oz.) Tegole: A wafer-thin almond cookie from the mountainous province of Aosta. (1.8 oz.) Mount of Olives Treasures - Jasmine Green: A elixir worthy of the Queen of Sheba, Mount of Olives Treasures exclusive blend of green tea is enhanced with fragrant jasmine. (20 tea bags)

Like all precious things, every Stravecchio cheese is one of a kind, and each wheel is branded with a unique serial number.
