Baby's gotta learn to be useful. Raise 'em right from the start. Teach 'em to make you breakfast. And as far as vocabulary goes, 'over easy' is much more useful than "fire truck".

I'm a sucker for fake food toys. I once took a big chunk out of a 'gingerbread man' christmas tree ornament that was made out of cork. In a rather similar archetypal approach, but nevertheless with a very personal formal language, Dutch designer Floris Hovers creates model cars which are likely to attract children as much as grown-ups. The cars are hand made from steel extrusions. They are not in production yet, the designer is in search of a manufacturer. It is a pity because I would have placed one or two on my Christmas list. Until then, one will have to be satisfied with the images of the many models of the Arche Toy series visible on Floris' website.
