This is a classic film done with care. I first saw this film when I was child with my family. Claudine is a period piece that deserves to be viewed. Diahn Carol and James Earl Jones give strong perfomances as two people trying to build a life together. The soundtrack which was done by Motown greats "Gladys Knight and the Pips" was played in our household many times.

Without posing moral judgement, the film highlights the subjectivity and power of conviction as well as its possible profundity and futility. This movie is scarce on dialogue but has one of the sharpest written 15 minute, single shot dialogue scenes I've ever had the pleasure of viewing.

I've weirdly seen this movie an obscene amount of times. I love Jon Grisham and Brad Renfro was adorable in this movie.

The Coen Brothers are great directors, I would say legends. Raising Arizona was the first movie I saw of theirs a loooong time ago but you understand after now watching many of their movies that their style is very unique.

Some similar threads as in Godard's "Vivre Sa Vie" ("My Life to Live"). Exploring a woman and her sexuality can be a delicate thing, this movie doesn't flinch. As you would expect, Catherine Deneuve is divine in this movie.
