Nebraska: Bruce Springsteen

Nebraska: Bruce Springsteen

Haunting, sparse, raw and lofi. A very dark album, without the catchy hooks you associate with Springsteen's major body of work. But this is the album I love.

London Calling is the third album by English punk rock band The Clash, released 14 December 1979, on CBS Records in the UK and in January 1980 on Epic Records in the United States. The album represented a change in The Clash's musical style, and featured elements of ska, pop, soul, rockabilly and reggae more prominently than in their previously released music.

  • U2 is a classic - my Dad loves them. They're not so bad in concert either.

But something in that voice, it just won me over. This spans the breadth of his career, which is pretty impressive. His songwriting is really strong, and there's just something timeless about his manner and his voice that cuts right to the quick.

"Every Breath You Take" and "King of Pain" are on here, but for me "Wrapped Around Your Finger" is the standout track. If you ever get a chance to see this song live it's so cool. It really cements just how amazing of a percussionist Stewart Copeland is.

  • A classic 90s album. This is so nostalgic for me. Great jangly pop songs with a bit of an edge. Yes, overall it's a melancholy album, but sometimes you need and album that understands heartache but isn't maudlin.
