The Black Keys - Attack and Release

The Black Keys - Attack and Release

Burly rock and roll from Akron, Ohio. Those things don't really sound like they should be in the same sentence, do they? Devo kinda gave people the idea that Akron is populated mostly with artsy weirdos and very impressive calculators. Devo was awesome. But they are wrong. The Black Keys: Not a punch in the face, so much as a beer bottle that *just* missed your head.

  • So bright and cheery. Yellow is such a great color. A pretty little clutch to add some sunshine to your ensemble.

Johnny Yanok smiles a lot, and it's pretty obvious why: the man is clearly a genius. His works, a combination of digital construction and hand-painted execution, evoke the golden age of illustration in a way that is often imitated but never duplicated. He has effortlessly succeeded where so many have failed, and while his talent certainly plays a part in that it's the man himself that is the reason for his success. Johnny's gentle demeanor and contagious joy infect his work and give it a vibrant life that is unmistakable. From his heroic knight to his animal portraits to the time he did an entire solo show of paintings of fruit, Johnny's humor and laughter are the real prize...his paintings are simply the delightful souvenir of time well-spent in the presence of someone who simply loves life, and knows how to paint it.
