  • This alarm clock is committed to getting you up on time. It launches a flying rotor which hovers approximately 9 feet in the air. The alarm will not stop ringing until the rotor is returned to the docking station.

This is an atomic alarm clock and a projection alarm clock at the same time! (And also: a weather station including a thermometer, barometer and some other features that all sound pretty darn scientific.) The main thing I like here is that this clock keeps perfect time and allows me to slop a sleepy arm over and have the time projected on the ceiling so that I can accurately chart the evolution of my insomnia.

Amadana's theory of function is unique - they give it as much elegance and thought as the actual, physical design of their products. This clock has a sleek appearance, but it maintains a warmth and class that other minimalist type pieces lack. The elegance is in the details - a sweeping seconds hand (like an automatic watch), engraved time markers on the glass that refract the ice-blue, backlit illumination, and four original, chill-out yet energetic tunes that play for each subsequent press of the 'Snooze' button. A pop up button lets you engage/disengage the alarm. When the backlight button is pressed, the light fades in and out, instead of just turning on and then abruptly off. The time is set by one simple wheel on the back; the alarm time, by another. A really elegant clock, and a pleasure to use. I recommend this.
