This particular design has a silicone lid that securely attaches to the cup. The outside is matte and the inside is glazed. I prefer a version that Starbucks put out a few months ago. Their version is pretty much the same, but the outside is glazed (and of course has their logo) and the lid is plastic with a silicone liner to keep liquids sealed in. The key difference between the two is the price. "I Am Not A Paper Cup" is roughly $20 and the Starbucks version is $12. The upsides to either is that if you are a daily coffee drinker, you don't have to trash a paper cup and plastic lid every time you get take-out coffee. The downside is that both of them hold about 8 oz. - not favorable if you normally order a "grande" at Starbucks. Another issue for commuters is that it is not spill-proof or splash-proof. And finally, the Starbucks version CANNOT go into the microwave.

So I did the taste test to see if I could tell which sample was the Pikes Place brew and which was the Via Ready Brew. Now, my incredibly sensitive palate could sense a very tiny difference in the two... the Via Ready Brew was slightly less potent at the beginning but had the same overall punch as the Pikes Place brew at the end. Overall, it's definitely the best instant coffee I've ever tasted (and, being a college kid, I've tasted a LOT). The best part is that it makes cooking (most likely baking) with coffee even better! I'm definitely sold on this product.

  • This is a coffee cup sleeve AND sleek wood bracelet. I don't wear bracelets, but if I did, this would get a spot in the rotation for sure.

So naturally I had to try out an espresso machine. Truth is, Starbucks is a painfully expensive habit for me. So I thought, 'why not make this stuff at home myself and save the 3 bucks?' After some research, I settled on the choice of most Italian homes, Gaggia. Being lazy, I wanted a super-automatic - something that does everything for you expect wash the dishes. Their Platinum line is a slew of such machines, made for home use, and the Vision is their top model, with an easy to use touchscreen interface. Let me keep this simple. This thing makes AWESOME espresso. You don't have to know what espresso even is. Just pour the beans into the hopper on top, press your cup size, and within 45 seconds you get a gorgeous, hot, perfectly made cup, better than any Starbucks creation. Of course, most of us (myself included) don't drink espresso straight, so its easy to use these beautiful shots to make lattes (iced or hot), cappuccinos, and cafe cremas/americanos. Some highlights: - AMAZING espresso shots, with crema, heart, and body. - Easy to use and program touchscreen interface lets you vary size, strength, and temperature of your drinks and save them for one button brewing - Included Milk Island makes it a cinch to froth and steam milk - Removable brew group means no need to send it in for pricey cleaning. Just take it out, rinse it, and put it back in. - Super sharp, quite ceramic burr grinder delivers perfect grounds without waking up the neighbors - Long, flexible steam wand for perfectly frothed milk - Slim profile, with easy to remove water reservoir and grounds drawer -Bypass doser window lets you brew with pre-ground coffee, if you want a little decaf at night, for example - 'OptiDose' dial on the front lets you change the extraction time for a weaker or stronger shot with a simple twist - Electrically powered drip tray raises and lowers with up and down buttons. Gimmicky, but cool. Some Cons: -Manual. It's not great. You will still need to refer to it to understand some things though. For example, they call Strength 'Aroma'. It's somewhat sparsely written; you will need to experiment to figure out some stuff. - No scientific, actual amounts given. You can't choose exactly how many grams of coffee are used in each shot, or the volume of coffee dispensed. You either get mild, medium, or strong, and the volume is set by a bar with + and - buttons. Be ready with a measuring cup and multiple tastings to get your drinks set up the way you want them. -The Bypass doser window is kinda small. Overall, this is probably the best Super Automatic espresso machine on the market right now, certainly in its price range, and possibly even surpassing some pricier models. It goes for $1800, but you may find it as low as $1400. If you buy a latte every day, you'll make up the purchase price in a year. Highly recommend. The 'Buy It' company is awesome as well, with a 30 day return policy, generous gifts included (lots of beans, the Milk island, etc.), and knowledgeable, friendly sales staff ready to answer even the most obscure question.

As the name implies, it's made from soft touch (grippy yet silky, BPA-free) plastic, which is a joy to hold. It holds 16 oz - perfect for a large cup of joe or a nice hot latte (I even use mine to make iced teas and coffees). It's got a smooth, undulating shape that's easy to hold and a pleasure to look at. The red color is perfectly situated between shout-out and discrete. The lid has a flip up top which exposes a drinking slot, which is easy to sip from , and is also sized with the just the right amount of room for a straw, if you'd like to use one. Best of all, due to a simple rubber gasket in the lid, it's essentially leak proof! Flip it, throw it in your bag - no leaks! For every one sold, Starbucks donates $1 to the (RED) program to help save lives in Africa.

It's 2 shots of espresso, to which is added sugar syrup, then the milk of your choice. It does look like the picture, and you can taste the different areas - the strong espresso or the creamy milk. Or you can just mix it up. But it tastes great, and the Grande size is only 90 calories with skim milk. The DoubleShots in the cans are good but not really similar to these. Update: Want a practically zero-cal drink? Ask your friendly barista to put in Splenda instead of the syrup. It tastes the same. 2 packets = regular syrup.

Appropriately they go there with a bang. Packaged in a cool looking box with starbucks cup markings, VIA comes in convenient single server packets - just tear, pour and add water. I've tried both flavors (Columbian and Italian) and like them both. Colombian is a little more rounded and mellow, while Italian has a little more kick to it. They definitely taste better than any other instant coffee I've tried, with more body and edges. It's the best instant coffee available. But it's NOT a freshly ground and brewed cup. However, they're perfect when on the run, traveling or to make a quick iced coffee - just use 2 packets and ice cubes. Only con is the price - $9.95 for 12 packets, which is pretty high for instant. Not to mention they are only avaialble at the Starbucks online store, so you have to add in shipping.
