Coca-Cola can, new 33cl aluminium concept can for Coca-Cola. Facet design inspired. The new can design utilizes a process called impact extrusion, a process where an aluminium slug (solid piece of metal) is pressed at a high velocity with extreme force into a die/mould by a punch. Conceptually, designer Dzmitry's concept could work, but it remains to be seen if it is comparable to the current standard can in price, quality and even feasibility for full-scale manufacture.

Be sure to check out the whole design:related site for some amazing designers' work. from the site: Eight sensationalist stories of celebrity misfortune were reduced to icons and patterned together to create a collective narrative of greed, addiction, exhibitionism and racism. The result is a wallpaper that acts as a satirical metaphor for the nature of celebrity scandals and the 24-hour news circus that follows them.

Make sure you're wearing nice underwear, ladies.... (*cough* Britney *cough*) from Yanko: Remember that whole fad when pagers, mobile phones, and even computers (cough -iMac) were transparent revealing their innards? What if we applied that idea to a car? The Gamma Concept takes advantage of new polycarbonate and composite materials to create lighter, stronger, and more fuel efficient cars. Sounds like the automotive holy grail. What gives? The Gamma’s visual language features large transparent areas to show the underlying structure and engine parts; to remind how the car works and present a more honest (transparent) design than its contemporary counterparts. All body panels are made from polycarbonate. To keep manufacturing costs to a minimum the panels are shaped using thermoforming, and then glued onto a carbon-kevlar reinforced aluminium chassis.

Wet, wild and wonderful concept. From Yanko: This transportation concept introduces the Hydrofoil technology into the sailing yacht world and shows an innovative approach to a traditional transportation field. Hydrofoil consists of a wing profile that moves underwater, similar to the wings of an airplane. When at wind speeds over 10kn, Hydrofoil produces a lifting force which lifts the boat above water and reduces the displacement and friction of the boat enormously. Thus it enables open ocean travels above the waves at the high speed of up to 30kn and provides space for 2-10 maritime jet setters. Designer: Arnold Freidling

Blast those blonde moments sky-high.... from Yanko: Fireworks Help Find Your Car Every time I get out of a car I yell to my friends the exact floor, side, and column it’s located on. Two hours later we’re all wandering around trying to find it. Constantly clicking the remote keyless entry doesn’t help unless you’re within audible distance. I need something bigger, something I can’t miss. How about fireworks? The Fireworks Locator system by futurist with a sense of humor Mac Funamizu uses holographic projection technology to set off a display of lights and color you can’t miss. A remote activates an emitter installed on the top of your vehicle. That’s pretty much it. Feasibility aside, I could totally see Honda using this idea in one of their future ads. Imagine hundreds of Hondas creating an unforgettable light show.

Think superhero mermaids.... from Yanko: Hot Jet-Ski Action with No Environmental Reaction I can ski above the water with an electrically charged motor? Sign me up! The Foiljet MR1 provides a speedy water motorcycle experience while supposedly causing minimal wake in the water and relatively no noise when in operation. Mermaids better keep their heads down for this one. Designers Matt De Bellefeuille and Robert Vandenham bring it to you straight: “An environmentally friendly recreational vehicle powered by a high torque 48 volt electric motor with benefits that include increased safety, efficiency and low noise. A unique and innovative vehicle which utilizes the latest in battery technology to provide unique thrills with no cost to the environment.” Check out the imagery and additional words below and tell me where the first race is because I want to be there with a big soda to watch the crashes. As long as it doesn't let people know when my mood is M&M Green. From Yanko: This is going to get a little hippie and spiritual so hold on. It’s common to focus on emotions while ignoring or having any awareness of what that goes on inside our body. This lack of understanding between the two can lead to health problems, for serious. So if we could keep track of how our emotions and bodies relate, what would that look like? This portable device lets the wearer express emotions with colors by correlating them with biometric data. The idea is to create another way to externalize how we feel in a language anyone can understand. Someone walking down the street with flash red might be upset, in a hurry, or angry. A computer keeps track of your colors, sort of a diary of emotions that can be turned into choreographed motion graphic pieces. It’s an esoteric concept but one grounded in scientifically proven models. We all react to colors and in most cases, can assign specific colors to a range of human emotions. I’d love to see this concept come to fruition. Designer: Sara Forsmark
