Salt and Pepper Orbs by Andi Kovel

Lovely, lovely, lovely. A table isn't complete without them. Would make a beautiful gift. I especially love that it's made from recycled glass stock and processed in an electric furnace that's powered by wind energy. Go green.

This particular design has a silicone lid that securely attaches to the cup. The outside is matte and the inside is glazed. I prefer a version that Starbucks put out a few months ago. Their version is pretty much the same, but the outside is glazed (and of course has their logo) and the lid is plastic with a silicone liner to keep liquids sealed in. The key difference between the two is the price. "I Am Not A Paper Cup" is roughly $20 and the Starbucks version is $12. The upsides to either is that if you are a daily coffee drinker, you don't have to trash a paper cup and plastic lid every time you get take-out coffee. The downside is that both of them hold about 8 oz. - not favorable if you normally order a "grande" at Starbucks. Another issue for commuters is that it is not spill-proof or splash-proof. And finally, the Starbucks version CANNOT go into the microwave.

Recycline has added a new series of products to its popular Preserve line. The new products are called Preserve Kitchen and include two types of cutting boards, food storage containers and a colander. We've had a chance to test out the new products and have nothing but praise for their design and material usage. Recycline has become the master at making useful products from pure recycled #5 PP plastic, and Preserve Kitchen products are no exception. Like other Preserve products the packaging is minimal to non-existent. The food storage containers come in minimal paperboard packaging (100% recycled/ 35% PCW) while the cutting board and colander simply have a Preserve label affixed to them with no packaging at all. In addition to the Preserve Kitchen products made from #5 PP, the company has added two new cutting boards made from Paperstone to its Preserve Kitchen product line. The addition of the new Paperstone cutting boards is exciting - its always good to experiment with new materials. We see this new line as an area Recycline can continue to explore, hopefully developing more products from this material. It is durable and easy to clean and the fact its made from post-consumer recycled paper is a tremendous positive in terms of its
