On the Waterfront (Special Edition) (1954)
Terry Malloy dreams about being a prize fighter, while tending his pigeons and running errands at the docks for Johnny Friendly, the corrupt boss of the dockers union. Terry witnesses a murder by two of Johnny's thugs, and later meets the dead man's sister and feels responsible for his death. She introduces him to Father Barry, who tries to force him to provide information for the courts that will smash the dock racketeers. The film stars Marlon Brando as Terry Malloy, Karl Malden as Father Barry, Lee J. Cobb as Johnny Friendly and Rod Steiger as Charley 'the Gent' Malloy. For all its great dramatic and cinematic qualities, and its fiery social criticism, Elia Kazan's On the Waterfront is also one of the most gripping melodramas of political corruption and individual heroism ever made in the United States. A five-star movie!!!

Ford plays a married man who charismatically lectures on the hypocrisy and corruption of America to anyone who will listen. Especially his family. So He decides to take his family back to nature and live off the land in the rural rainforest of South America. Trouble arises when he buts heads with missionaries and bandits. The movie is kind of told through the eyes of the son played by Pheonix as he sees his father become unglued and his family threatened.

Chris Cooper and Ryan Phillippe are extraordinary as Robert Hanssen and Eric O'Neill. I highly recommend!

His dedication to his work does not come without a price though, leading him to sacrifice his ideals and eventually his family. This movie stars Matt Damon, Robert DeNiro, Angelina Jolie, Joe Pesci and Alec Baldwin and let me tell you, it is a fantastic movie. I would not be surprised if Robert DeNiro who directed, gets an Academy Award. The moive is long (3 hrs) but somehow, it goes by extremely fast. It is a very very good movie, not to be missed.
