A version of this decision coin was invented 30 years ago by Jennifer Vraney's father, George Vraney, for use with her and her sister. Jennifer and her sister would stay with their dad for summers and all the silly things they fought about drove him bananas! This coin worked like a charm. Jennifer's sister, being older, figured out the strategy behind it. Jennifer never really did, but that didn't matter because both sisters won in every situation. All their dad had to say was "who has the coin" and that person would figure out what to do. Two years ago, Jennifer asked her father if he'd be interested in taking the Pocket Referee to market with her, and the rest is history!

This is a must see documentary about Amish teens. When they turn 16, they go through a period called 'Rumspringa' where they get indulge in the outside world in order to decide whether they want to remain in the church as adults. Pretty cool, huh? Rather than coercing kids through fear they allow them the freedom to experience and choose. Unfortunately, many of the kids go overboard (some even becoming drug addicts), however they demonstrate a kind of calm lucidity and mature rationalization of their circumstances for being, afterall, American teens. Its really interesting.

This is an amazing movie and thank you for not patronizing me by telling me everything will be O.K. and giving me a sugar coated ending. I'm not saying everything is messed up in the end of this movie, but I like where it concluded. Ryan Gosling is a basehead. And he's a NYC school teacher. Conflict of interest maybe? Yes. He forms a friendship with one of his young students who's about to make a pretty bad move. Can he steer her in the right direction? Well, would you take advice from a crack head. I think not. All the actors in this movie were outstanding! Rent this. Don't walk, run.
