Thomas Paul Rugs Buds in Brown and Orange
I have never really been much of a rug person, but Thomas Paul has succeeded in completely changing my perspective. Yes, I have owned rugs. I have grown up around rugs. I even spent time in a rug shop in Morocco where they presented me with rug choice after rug. But, nothing has ever quite made me crave a piece to cover my hardwood floors. Until Thomas Paul. I feel like his combinations are the perfect mix of a vintage or historic look with very contemporary and clean colors. I personally don’t think his rugs are too overwhelming, but the graphics certainly do make a statement. Oh, I am in love. Now I just have to save some pennies.

This isn't your typical cutesy or romantic artwork but it definitely gets the message across! This is a limited edition silkscreen print suitable as a Valentine's Day gift but would also be a great piece to feature in any room.

The solution: teach your 2.5 year old niece how to do a makeshift rain dance. We danced our hearts out then ran outside. It took a few minutes but lo and behold it started to rain huge refreshing drops. We spent the next hour running around in the rain getting absolutely drenched. Now that I see the Cavern Home Navajo Wallpaper I feel inclined to buy a roll and make it into some fun wall art to commemorate our rain creating experience.

If there was a king of color inspiration, I think Thomas Paul might be it. I was playing with some colored paper last night, trying to find a combination of tones that tickled my fancy, but I struggled. Oh yes, I struggled. Today I realize I should have used Thomas Paul’s pillows as a resource, duh! In looking at how he puts various shades of moss, aqua, or corn together forces an “Aha! Why couldn’t I think of that?!” moment out of me. The newest source of color motivation: his Flock silk twill pillow in an array of innovative tones.

I appreciate that these can be kid friendly, but I think it is just as significant that these are adult friendly too! I particularly enjoy the Chocolate Set with its rich classic, 50’s-ish yet modern vibe. If you have not yet seen how these lamps can be twisted together, I would highly suggest viewing the footage of a lamp in action.

I have strong recollections of the wallpaper my parents used to coat our home in the early 80’s, and it wasn’t pretty (aka very negative associations of wallpaper from a young age). Now I feel like I have "seen the light" and view wallpaper really as its own form of art. This sparks in me serious cravings to attempt to cover my walls. If only I wasn’t renting and was allowed to do as I pleased with my walls. If only.

I have to share my admiration for gnomes. My gnome fascination does not stem from contemporary gnomes like Travelocity’s travel gnome or the gnome in Amelie. I believe the gnome appreciation was ingrained in me during my formative years while watching The World of David the Gnome. Oh my, how I loved that show. And what lessons he taught! I learned from David that it is ok to be kind, nature is good, and living in miniature spaces is doable. CAKE’s Chrome Gnome set encapsulates all the treasured gnome features in a clean and stylish finish. I can see this couple as a fabulous woodsy/kitsch addition to any modern home. What a perfect pair to put on a mantel, by a bed, or as a table top adornment. Yes, I will be adding this to my wish list!
