Pioneer SEDJ-5000 Headphones

Pioneer SEDJ-5000 Headphones

I must have had these headphones about 4 years now and they are still going strong. Although I rarely DJ out any more at the peak of their use though they were going on the road about once a fortnight but they've been hammered hard at home on a regular basis. Good DJ headphones should be able to withstand the loudest mixer signals without distortion and the SEDJ-5000's are comfortably up to the task. (Your ears on the other hand are not - you have been warned!) Beyond their ability to take a good pumping these headphones have some nice design features to set them apart from the rest. There's a belt clip and coiled cable that extends to give you a good 2 metres radius around the DJ booth and springs back rather than dragging on the floor like most headphone leads. One of the cups has a pad for resting against your shoulder for that nonchalant DJ look as you cue the records, and there's a switch on the other cup to convert the signal to mono should you encounter a really old mixer that uses split monitoring. My only small gripe is that the SEDJ-5000's do not come with a case or bag. So if you ever see me out with a box of records in one hand, and a large ball of bubble wrap and duct tape in the other you'll know what's inside it!
