Burton Cartel Snowboard Binding

Burton Cartel Snowboard Binding

I got the Cartels this past season and love them. I can honestly say that I owe it to the Cartels for elevating my riding level and getting me sponsored. Okay, the sponsor thing was a lie. The bindings are durable and steezie too. After a long debate I opted to go with the white and green. More flash equals more eyes which equals...more chicks!!!

The K2 Raider Boa boots are an outright steal at $169. Besides getting the amazing Boa system (a quick turn of the dial and you're set!) the Raider is an extremely flexible, comfortable and supportive boot. The synthetic-leather and rubber shell contains a bootie made out of some great foam - super comfy and it conforms to your feet. After tightening the boa wheel, you'll find you still have extreme range of motion (great if you do tricks or like park riding) while the boot keeps your ankles firmly locked down. Impressive. A great all-around boot, without too many frills, and if you haven't tried it already, a great boot to get to give the boa system a whirl.

Thirty Two specializes in lightweight gear, and this boot is no exception. I don't know the exact weight but I can guarantee you it's much lighter than any other Boa boot, and probably lighter than most stiff lace-ups. This makes it so much more comfortable to wear all day. The Focus is packed with high-tech, useful features. It's inner liner is like a marshmallow dream - conforming to the slightest contour of your foot. It has a standard pull up lace for the inner boot, but it locks at the ankle, for greater lock-down. There is a sturdy, velcro calf strap to secure that area. Best of all are the two (2!) Boa lacing wheels. The side one, which you tighten first, secures the lower and ankle portions of the boot. The top straps you in for all the rest. The result is an extremely comfortable, minutely customizable fit. It may be a little pricey, but I think it's worth it.

The custom is a super high-quality though not overpriced board that can do whatever you want wherever you are. It's perfect for intermediate snowboarders and more advanced ones who want a board they can use down the slopes or in the park. They come in a few different versions at different price levels. You don't need the most expensive one. Find the mid-range one and get it if you want a board that will work for you and last for a long time.

DC - A solid snowboarding gear company, makes these expensive but worth it snowboard boots. If you're still stuck tying laces, you owe it to yourself to get a par (any pair) of boots with the BoA lacing system. BoA is simply a dial you turn to tighten the boot - while you turn, it tightens steel cables around your foot, for a secure and comfortable fit. Ten times easier than struggling with laces - you'll be in them in 30 seconds, max. When it's time to leave the slopes, a quick pull forwards releases all the tension in the cables. The DC Allegiance ups the ante by adding a second BoA dial on the side for added control and better heel hold-down. In Germany they call these the 'Doppel Boa'. This top o the line DC also has an adjustable air bladder (like air pump sneakers!) to customozie the fit around your ankles.
