Quantic - An Anouncement To Answer (Ubiquity Records)

Quantic (aka The Quantic Soul Orchestra) has become one of my all time favorite artists. The tracks are funky, soulful, exotic, smooth and intoxicating. "An Announcement To Answer" is the newest release and is a must have. The tracks range from basic funk and soul to exotic Latin beats that get you grooving and wishing you could be transported to an exotic lounge on the beach or the rooftop bar. On a separate note. I truly recommend checking out other artists on the Ubiquity Records label. While you won't find the majority of the artist getting air play on your local radio stations, the artists are definitely worth giving a listen to. Other Ubiquity Artists: Breakstra Greyboy Radio City Ohmega Watts Mr. Lif High Contrast Booka Shade Daniel Meteo

This is shown well on his new album What it is. Massure is at the forefront of the Acid/Jazz/Funk movement, doing it all from Seattle, Washington. There are no samples on his new release, either...this cat is old school, doing everything instrumental and ringin' beautiful tones.

  • Filled with atmospheric breaks and trance inducing effects, the entire album is worth listening to many times over. Abstract electronica flows to deep levels of subconscious rhythms.

  • Described by some as 'subtarranean electronic tribalism, this album comprises styles as varied as organic downtempo, breaks, ethnic beats and atmospheric sounds. Just hit play and flow.

I must have listened to Melody A.M. and The Understanding a thousand times by now. Surprisingly, not many people have heard of this Norwegian duo until I mention that one song that was used for a geico commercial. Melody A.M. is a very relaxing album, very emotional. You should definitely listen to this album, I promise you'll love it!

This album is a mix of acoustic, folk, electronic, jazz, and I don't know what else. It's a wonderful compilation of remixes, some including Ladytron, Royksopp, & Andy Votel. My favorites: I Don't Know What I Can Save You From (Röyksopp Remix), The Girl From Back Then (Riton's Über Jazz Mix), and Winning A Battle, Losing The War (Andy Votel Mix).

I was introduced to Cinematic Orchestra several years ago and they have become one of the few artists that I have recommended to everybody I discuss music with. This is definitely not your "A Typical" Jazz album. The melody and soul that come from every track on this album is mind melting. This is the one album that I can listen to while wearing headphones and completely disappear into another world. Fontella Bass makes several guest appearances and most memorable would be on "All That You Give" and "Evolution". This is the album that you don't want to ruin with words; you just want to play it and just let people hear it.
