Pentel Sharplet 2 Mechanical Pencil

Pentel Sharplet 2 Mechanical Pencil

But only the ones with 0.9mm lead, because I press really hard when I write. And for those rare instances when I actually write in ink, I use Pentel’s Rolling Writer in black. People always tell me I have nice handwriting when I use that pen for some reason.

I'm personally partial to the extra fine, but the fine ain't too shabby. Now, you may think a pen's a pen, but trust me, not all pens are created equal, and this here pen is among the finest. It's available in at least 7 colors. The ink comes out smoothly, so that the lines you put on the page reflect the fluidity of your touch. The clean, simple shape of the pen itself is (imho) a selling point, too; none of that "ergonomic" yet aesthetically abominable design that's been such a marketing trend the past decade or so. Don't worry, this pen is definitely comfortable for use hour after hour after hour. The only thing you need to worry about is not losing yours, as these are the kind of pens that people like to borrow and never return (word of advice: buy in bulk).

They are perfect for use with any erasable medium. Nice and malleable, they adapt to your requirements; shape the eraser into a tiny point to clean up details, or use the whole thing to gently blot up dusty sections. If you get the extra large ones (my favorite) you can rip them into bits the size that you need, and still have some fresh eraser left for another day. Play around with them a bit, and you will agree that these are pretty much the best erasers ever.

When I was in Design school we had to learn all kinds of programs to prepare us for all the different ones people are using. So this product is great. "AutoCAD® Revit® Architecture Suite software turns maximum flexibility into competitive advantage. Combining AutoCAD®, AutoCAD® Architecture, and Revit® Architecture software into a single, comprehensive package allows you to transition to building information modeling (BIM) at your own pace, while protecting your software, training, and design data investments." Revit is the way to go every architecture firm is moving towards using it because of it's rendering capabilities alone. And who doesn't want a software that updates all your drawings when you make one change versus having to change it on every single sheet in your set! LOVE IT

I've also found that for certain courses, you need to re-write, on the fly, during lecture. A lot. That's where a pencil with an eraser becomes handy. This is the first mechanical pencil that just works. My handwriting is beyond the pale, and I exert too much pressure when I scribble. But the Graphgear has multiple points where it hold the lead, making it much harder to break. A very good eraser is hidden under the cap. Nice grip too, with a solid, well balanced weight. If you need to write with pencils I would highly recommend this one.

I don't know why I like, or even entirely agree, with simple products being re-made into something fancy, exclusive, and/or expensive. However, these pencils just scream to me and while being horribly overpriced, they are still affordable at $15 and I think they'd look great on your writing desk or in the hands of a lucky gift recipient. P.S. The Violet site uses a lot of Flash so I hope the link works correctly.
