I have to admit I haven't really used a ChapStick product since my mother used to buy them along with my soap, toothpaste, etc at the drugstore for me...so it's been a long time. However, delicious scent varieties + plus my beloved lip finish (shimmer) + inexpensive = a lip balm I want to try! What's great about ChapStick True Shimmer is that this lipbalm is extremely subtle, giving a beautiful sheen and glow to my lips. When I looked closely, and in sunlight, I noticed the thousands of pretty, tiny flecks of silver micro-shimmer. These balms go on a soft creamy white out of the tube and with finger application smooth out to a clearer shade. They don't add any additional color, but they work very well over a matte lip stain or lip stick if you are looking for more color for day. Used alone with a neutral lip pencil this can give a very nice "your lips but better" look. They are not "frosty" or overly sparkly. Nice, pretty and natural lips with the added shimmer is exactly the look I got. Blended Fruit Sherbet was one of my favorite flavors - really authentic with it's creamy creamy mixed berry scent. The balm was not chalky, waxy or gritty, and very moisturizing and comforting on my dry lips - especially while traveling on dry air planes, trains, etc. I found myself turning to this little gem often! My other favorite is the Tropical version, which is a yummy Pina Colada-like scented blend that will do if you're dieting or can't get to the real thing!

Caress Evenly Gorgeous Body wash manages to take a scent concept that has been done before in many body care products - the brown sugar/vanilla combo - (although the second scent is listed by Caress as Karite Shea Butter) - and manages to not only make it unbelievably decadent, but combines it with a super moisturizing formula that anyone (even if you're not looking for a drugstore bargain) will love! With the "whoosh" of these two notes hitting my nose as I opened the cap, I knew that this was going to be a very nice experience, and a very different drugstore body wash. The scent was soft, sugary, but not cloying or containing a fake plastic-y sugar element I've experienced in many inexpensive body care products. The scent is prominent - I certainly smelled it lingering for a while after my shower, but it was so lovely I didn't mind at all. The texture of the body wash is a fairly thick cream/gel blend. The exfoliating grains, which are sugar based, are very tiny. The exfoliation is very nice and will be appropriate for those of you with more sensitive skin as well. (If you want/need a more intense scrub just combine with scrubbing gloves or a more abrasive scrubbing cloth). My skin was very clean, soft and even better, very moisturized after rinsing the scrub off. I found that I didn't need much additional body lotion afterwards at all, and my skin stayed soft and smooth all day. The packaging is a like it or hate it affair I admit (the dress on the front is really not necessary in my opinion), but unless you are a real packaging snob, this shouldn't matter very much. You will have to like warm, sweet scents to use this product, but if you do, this is really one of the best and delivers an experience equal to many products which are much more expensive. Another plus - this bottle is HUGE and should last a few months if used about 2x week. This is a drugstore gem that you don't want to miss out on!

This is a great product for smoothing and improving the texture of skin in the t zone. I would say this won't work miracles if you have serious problems which are better addressed by professional peels or microdermabrasion, but this is a great drugstore solution. I used this product several ways. As I began testing the product I would apply in the morning after cleansing and use it as a de-facto skin primer. Note: If you exfoliate your skin first, it is best to wait a few minutes before applying the re-smoother to avoid slight stinging. I used about a pea-sized amount and applied primarily on my nose, chin and a tiny bit on my forehead. The texture is light and smooth, and absorbed quickly. I really liked how my makeup applied over it and the overall effect once my makeup was on. I could really see a improvement after the first week of using 2x day. I didn't experience any clogged pores, break outs or irritation from the product. After the first week of use, the pores on my nose in particular were significantly reduced, which I was very happy with. In the evening I would apply my face serum after cleansing, add the re-smoother and then apply a light night cream. I woke up in the morning with great looking skin that was very smooth and had nice tone. I will continue to use this several times a week (as a little goes a long way) to maintain the great results!

LOVE, bracing, energizing scents in the morning - Grapefruit/Lemon/Citrus notes are what I reach for time and time again. Now I've discovered a great drugstore product that gives me all of that AND a bargain that can reach for all the time! Dove go fresh Body Mist, Energizing Grapefruit & Lemongrass Scent is a great, clean fragrance that was not too strong or overpowering - but still bright, clear and noticeable on my skin. I found that the trick to getting this body spray to really have staying power (remember: body mists are really not meant to be long lasting fragrances), is to apply body lotion first, right out of the shower, so skin is very moisturized, then I sprayed two rounds of the mist on my pulse points (wrist, inside elbows, backs of knees). Note: Dove also makes a line of products in this scent which you can also use to layer - body wash, bar soap and deodorant. This is a spot on multi-citrus scent that refreshes and energizes - perfect for spring/summer and also post work out or plane travel. Since it's fairly small it's also easy to put in your purse if you want to refresh at the end of the day - the scent is that lovely that you really will want to -- like I did almost every day!

Olay had made great strides in really listening to the needs of women of all ages and skin types in their various lines over the years. Olay Professional Pro-X is their highest end line available in drugstores and like many of you, I wondered if this product line would make sense in that environment and of course if the results would be worth the price tag. After using this treatment daily for over a month, I can honestly say yes to both of these concerns. The Olay Professional Pro-X Discoloration Fighting Concentrate is a slim tube with a needle point applicator, which made it easy to target the exact spots and locations on my face where I needed to lighted my spots. That made it easy to pack for travel as well. It is white, lightweight and silky and sank in easily. There was no discernible scent. I applied it in the morning and evening after cleansing (using SPF in the daytime additionally). After only a week I could definitely see a difference in the color of my spots. The formula didn't dry out or irritate my skin in those areas, as a matter of fact, it hydrated my skin very nicely. After two more weeks, several of the darker areas had completely disappeared, and one particularly troublesome area improved by 50-60%. I was extremely pleased with this product. As with any discoloration product, you do have to continue to use it on a regular basis to keep up the results, but this product has made me a believer, so that won't be a problem.

If you are a real scrub junkie like I am, then you know that you can certainly be wowed by a luxurious scrub from a high end brand. However, when I can also be wowed by a drugstore gem like this one from St. Ives, it really puts a smile on my face. The texture of this scrub is so different from what I usually experience with drugstore scrubs. It's not a creamy, grainy scrub. Instead it's a very thick (almost solid) creamy-white base with the exfoliating grains weaved within it. It reminded me a little of taking packed sand and adding water to make sculptures. I scooped a handful and began scrubbing my tough areas and it didn't melt immediately (you can add more/less water depending on how grainy you want the scrub). It retained some of it's solid nature throughout most of my shower. (This means it didn't end up all over the shower floor!). After rinsing I had soft, glowing skin with no residue or greasy feeling. After using 3x week for a few weeks, my skin looked much better and it took less and less product to keep up the results. Other nice features: It smelled wonderful, a light oceanic/green smell and because it was so concentrated, it lasted a long time. My skin is not super dry, but this definitely gave me a nice layer of moisture and didn't dry it out or make it raw while I was scrubbing. This should be in your shower caddy ASAP!

  • I love these make-up removing towelettes. They work really well in removing all make up, plus, they are filled with healthy anti-oxidants.

Olay has made incredible strides with the creation of this product. It is a tinted moisturizer, which many of you love to use, but since this is an Olay product, there are some additional benefits and product innovations which I was impressed with. The see-through tube reveals a color “swirl” which is the tinted moisturizer shade + the moisturizer (like a “cosmetic” soft ice cream cone!). I really liked this effect. I pumped just once to release the mixed product in my hand, blended it together and applied to my face with my fingers. (Note: I also had great results using a slightly damp blender sponge like Sonia Kashuk’s. As this is a “tint” the color blended in very nicely with my skin tone (I used light/medium). Think of using a “wash” as opposed to a “paint” to color your walls. I let it sink in for a few minutes to set. It felt light on my skin and really made my skin look luminous immediately. When I was ready to begin applying the rest of makeup my skin was moisturized with no oily spots. I found that a bit of concealer, then blotting with a sheet and finished with some powder gave me the best results to really look polished. On the weekends I sometimes skipped the power if I was just running around. The finish without powder is dewy (not oily) which was very nice and just what I wanted. I loved how my skin looked when I wore this and found that each and every time it went on evenly and effortlessly. Please note that since this is a tint, you should have a fairly good skin tone to begin with. This will not cover up major skin discolorations, hyperpigmentation, freckles, etc, but it does contain ingredients that with time do help improve the overall tone of the skin. I found that a few very light blemish marks did fade after several weeks of using the product as well. My skin felt plump, moisturized and little fine lines were much less noticeable. The product also has a sunscreen which is on the lower end (15), but fine for daily short term sun exposure. This is a “higher end” drugstore product that is certainly worth every penny. Note: This will work best for normal to dry skins, as it may make oily skin appear more shiny/oily. Also, even though this is a tint, women that are darker than a Whitney Houston shade for example, should use the medium/dark shade for best results.
