V for Vendetta

V for Vendetta

That was a great, great movie! The plot is a terrorist freedom fighter known only as "V" begins a violent guerilla campaign to destroy those who've succumbed to totalitarianism, and recruits a young woman he's rescued from the secret police to join him.

There where three things that made the screening of the newly restored Fritz Lang masterpiece an unforgettable experience, the breathtaking look of the restored film was like nothing I've seen before, the additional film from the Buenos Aires Museo del Cine 16mm dupe negative discovered in 2008 that was considerably longer than any existing print. It included not merely a few additional snippets, but 25 minutes of "lost" footage, about a fifth of the film, that had not been seen since its Berlin debut in 1927. But it was the live soundtrack composed and performed by Boston based Alloy Orchestra that made the whole evening come together, their fresh contemporary score enhanced the story, giving new life to the familiar and unfamiliar scenes. I highly recommend seeing The Complete Metropolis in the theatre with live accompaniment, but if you can't the DVD or Blu-ray is a must, and will not dissapoint.

  • I can certainly recommend that more housing projects like this one are allowed to be made, and then allowed to fall into ruin...

  • Such a classic from the 80's...can't really say anymore than that...well I can. It was revolutionary and was a tremendous story. Harrison Ford was obviously amazing.

James, comes the theatrical version of one of her novel, 'The Children of Men'. In 2027, in a chaotic world in which humans can no longer procreate, a former activist agrees to help transport a miraculously pregnant woman to a sanctuary at sea, where her child's birth may help scientists save the future of humankind The film stars Clive Owen as Theodore Faron, Julianne Moore as Julian Taylor, Michael Caine as Jasper and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Luke This novel comments on the inability of Western science to prevent the impending end of the species or to discover the cause of sterility and on how lack of a visible future affects the human race with apathy and cruelty. Let's hope the movie is as good as the book. We can't wait to see it.
