The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers
Jack White + Brendan Benson=good damn time. Anyone who underestimated Brendan Benson's effect on the sound of this group will be emediatly shocked once they make it past the lead single. When it first came out, I was slightly bummed the sound wasn't harder, more White Stripes-ish, but over time I love the pop infusion. The songs are catchy, not overly popy, but a nice balance.

MGMT! These two guys are young and soulful if I may say so with a bit of experimental and psyc rock to it, it's a perfect mix for those summer drives.

Duh, this movie is ancient history now. The soundtrack, had little traction past the initial hype anyways. However, I think it does deserve a nod. I mean, it really is a collection of 19 really fun songs.

When I first heard that this album included yodeling, I was puzzled but intrigued. And then when I listened to "Wind It Up", it all came together: the yodeling, the rapping, the killer beat. I didn't think it was possible, but I love this album even more than "Love Angel Music Baby". Although it will be a few years before I'll let my son listen to it.

A really rough and raw album that plays very easily. Could easily be mistaken for an incredibly cool Jazz album but it is so pure of angst ridden guitar laid voices wanting rock that it can't be mistaken with its direction. But I ... I don't often watch VH1 or MTV any more, but I did happen to catch the video for Breathe one morning and just had to watch it from beginning to end. And I loved the song so much I bought the album.
