Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for Nintendo DS

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for Nintendo DS

This game is the sequel to the Wind Waker on the Nintendo Gamecube. It follows right where the last game left off with Link floating in the ocean after a final battle with his long time nemesis Gandolf. The game itself is played purely with the DS's stylus. It takes some gettting use to not using the control pad or buttons for the gameplay, but after a while you forget about them. The story is interesting with twists and surprises. Graphics wise the game looks very close to the Gamecube game. Gameplay wise is a lot to do for the gamer. It will hold your interest till the very end. Once again Nintendo shows that the Zelda series still has life in it.

This newest game in the Super Mario series offers up the regular great platforming fun all of us have grown up with. Well at least I have. If you have played other games in this series you will understand how eating mushrooms or flowers in this game are a good thing as it powers up your character. The joy of this game is in the puzzles and necessary timing of jumps through the many hoops, platforms, and obstacles the Nintendo game designers have created within the game.

It features a system which is built around the use of a stylus, dual screens, and a mic for gameplay. The usual gamepad and game buttons are also present for regular game playing. The battery life is pretty good with about 10 hours of gameplay possible. Loading times are non - existent because the games are on solid state rom cartridges. Another plus of the system is it's ability to play old Gameboy Advance games. Overall the dual screens, stylus and mic add a great deal to games which make use of them. I remember finding the first time I found myself yelling at my Nintendo DS for a Zelda game to be quite humorous.

The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess is without a doubt, in my opinion at least, is a wonderful way to waste time. The story takes Link everywhere as he takes the form of his regular self and also a wolf form. Without giving too much away, Link becomes trapped within a Twilight world where he must escape from. It is in this world where he takes the form of a wolf. All I can say more is that the game is huge. It can easily take up 40 + hours of your time, so be sure to not forget about responsibilities in your real life. Graphics wise the game is beautiful. Not quite up to the level of the PS3 or Xbox 360, but the art work within the game is very well done. Gameplay offers everything from the regular dungeon exploration, to collection of items, to some fun mini games. This is one of those games which must be played and experienced. Just make sure not to forget about taking a break or two out of the game world.
