Mexican Textiles

These lovely Mexican throws can be used as a bedspread for a full or queen bed, a tablecloth, or a furniture covering. Handmade by the Otomi Indians from the mountains of the Mexican state of Hidalgo, each textile tells a story - inspired by wall paintings in the region's cliffs.

The outline of the word Cajun and the satin stitched edges are in pink. The outline of the word Cajun is filled with crystal rhinestones. This luggage grip attaches to your luggage handles via Velcro. My cousin has been traveling a lot and stopped in to visit with me. She had a foam luggage grip that she really liked because she could identify her luggage with it at the airport. She asked if I could make more for the rest of her luggage. They turned out so cute that she replaced her foam luggage grip for the one I made her. This luggage grip is perfect for the traveler who likes bling. The rhinestones shine. It would also make a great gift for someone getting ready to travel or newlyweds. If you would like a luggage grip with your name or a different word, let me know and we can do it for you.

The mylar picks up all of the colors around it and, well, bling. It has been compared to metallic thread, but I think it is even shinier than that. This patch is 4 inches wide and 5 inches high. The patch is outlined in purple. The mylar embroidery uses lavender thread and the background fabric is purple. Mardi Gras is stitched in green and gold. Yep, purple, green and gold -- Mardi Gras colors. The stabilizer used is plastic. The patch/pocket is virtually water proof. The patch can be used on anything that you can imagine. It can be a small pocket or a patch. It's up to your imagination. Or, use it as a non-permanent patch to be a pocket one day and a patch another. I call this a designer pocket. How to attach: The patch is not very thick, but it is sturdy. You can sew it or glue it. If you decide to glue it, you can use a tacky glue that comes off in the wash and use the patch in a variety of ways. Or, you could use a permanent glue. This all came about because I have friends that simply don't sew but they love to shine. They or you can put glue around the inside edges and not glue the top and put it on whatever you like for a pocket. Glue all the way around for a patch. Permanent glue stays forever; non-permanent glue allows you to change around. Follow the instructions on whatever glue you use. The patch, itself, may be washed and dried -- it is not dry cleanable. I did my first mylar embroidery on a towel back in October or November, 2010. I gave my husband instructions to use the towel for every dirty job he could find. We have washed and dried that towel many times since then. The towel is looking a bit worn but the mylar embroidery is as pretty today as the day I embroidered it. The fabric is white with black polka dots and the edges are serged. One corner sports a lovely little embroidered design in black with crystal rhinestones on top. Care instructions are to wash by hand, only to prevent the rhinestones from falling off. Be careful not to scratch your nose with the rhinestones. One of my girlfriends told me that she loves my embroidery but it lacks bling. Hence, 2011 is the year of bling at Cajun Stitchery. I still love the heirloom embroidery but also want to have something to satisfy everyone's taste. This hanky is so delicate and feminine, with a little pizzazz from the polka dots. It would be perfect for a wedding or a gift for any lady. The rhinestones do shine.

The fabric is white with black polka dots and the edges are serged. One corner is adorned with one purple, one green, and one gold dollar signs which are embroidered using mylar to create sparkle. These are Mardi Gras colors and tis the season. No special care required, just wash and dry. A real eye catcher. A great gift. But keep it for yourself. You won't see anyone else with a hanky like this one. Save your dollars and save the environment, one step at a time. Use cloth handkerchiefs.
