Not anymore... now you can buy yourself a new friend in the form of Tengu! Tengu is a fun USB-powered character that lights up and lip-syncs to music, your voice, or whatever noise happens to be around at the time. Tengu has slew of different facial expressions that love lip-syncing. He'll be your new BFF in no time! When it's quiet Tengu will fall asleep - as soon as he detects noise (or you blow on him) he'll wake up again. Tengu simply plugs into your computer's USB drive. No software is required! Tengu is a fun little guy who guarantees to bring a smile to that depressing little cubical of yours!

I received an email from a friend at SXSW, the annual music & tech festival down in Austin, who tried these puppies out. After getting past yet another pout marathon over the fact I'm not there, I decided to go to the site and have a look around. Pretty cool, me thinks. They claim to transform hundreds of 2-D games' graphics into punch-you-in-your-nose 3-D ones. According to my buddy, they follow through on that promise. But maybe you know that already because maybe you are in Austin yourself. Bastard.

I have to use the MSN review of this simply because it has a few sentences that made me aspirate my coffee: "They might even say that for the money you’re spending on the Kaleidescape, you could hire a toady to organize your DVDs and put them into the player for you whenever and wherever you want. You know what those people are? Poor. So ignore them." Well, also because I can't afford to buy one and review it personally. Ha. Sigh. from MSN: Price tag: More than $10,000 (depending on configuration) Everyone knows what a hassle DVDs can be. The disc you want to watch in the bedroom is always to be found (or not) under a couch cushion in the living room. And forget trying to get the kids to put DVDs back in their cases -- especially now that they’re fabulously wealthy and think the governess should do it. With the Kaleidescape, you can say goodbye to all of those problems. That's because this system lets you store all of your DVDs on Kaleidescape servers in your home and then play the movies back in any room you like through one of the company’s proprietary players. Now, some people might point out that you could do something similar for about $100 with a copy of DVD Shrink and a used Xbox. They might even say that for the money you’re spending on the Kaleidescape, you could hire a toady to organize your DVDs and put them into the player for you whenever and wherever you want. You know what those people are? Poor. So ignore them.

From Born Rich: If you can’t get enough of over-the-top and highly expensive loudspeakers, here is another one. Arvus Loudspeakers, a New Zealand-based company, has launched their exclusive loudspeakers, “The Prerenaissance.” The speakers are aesthetically designed and look grand and stylish. The technical part of the loudspeakers is quite unmatched too. Each pair of the loudspeakers has taken hundreds of man hours each and the result is of course extravagant and almost artistic. The speakers come in wood, painted, carbon fiber, and stainless steel finish options. The loudspeakers also have 6 channels of amplification, which make up a total of 3000 watts RMS. This could very well be the ultimate statement of luxury and decadence. Each pair of The Prerenaissance loudspeakers costs $140,000.

From Born Rich: If you think that the pictured above is some kind of colossal eyeball webcam, you are mistaken. It’s in actual the “La Sphere“ speaker from Cabasse that is designed to create unique ambiences for interior spaces and enhance acoustics of the spaces like theater rooms. The spherical corral is intended to help eliminate standing waves and create a more rounded sound. The four-way co-axial speaker claims to offer unrivalled technical and musical specifications in a compacter volume than all other ultimate systems. I am not sure whether this inimitable design really throws out good sound but the price tag of $150,000 for a pair would optimistically do full justice with the sound quality too.

From Born Rich: Wilson Audio has earned itself a name as one of the top luxury speakers’ manufacturers. The new Wilson Audio Alexandria Loudspeakers do deserve a place in the list of top 10 luxury speakers with its whopping price tag of $200,000 and an inimitable make. The uncanny looks of the loudspeakers somehow resembles the leg of a Transformer. The loudspeaker uses upper frequency driver modules that adjust linearly to optimize time alignment while each of the modules rotate on its polar axis to pull off optimal driver dispersion for multiple listening positions. With the manufacturers popping out luxury speakers like rabbit popping out bunnies, I think I will have to make another list of top 10 luxury speakers very soon.

Why do I love it? Well, let me count the ways.... First, it does away with the usual issue of taking up valuable wall space for media purposes. Next, the shelving comes in various color options- including red, which is unusually bold. Finally, the design doesn't try too hard to be more than it already is- which is clean, efficient and pretty fricking fabulous.

The subtlety of design is music to my ears. From the site: The Sound Advance® SA2C, the world's first invisible in-wall loudspeaker, is a two-way, full range planar loudspeaker system designed for use in commercial installations (for residential installations we recommend the SA2 invisible speaker). Proprietary structural and engineering features make it possible to invisibly install the SA2C in almost any standard wood/metal stud wall or ceiling. The speaker essentially becomes an integral part of the wall or ceiling surface.

An optical filter transforms defined colour images from television sets into an endless variety of colour abstracts. This apparently random effect of coloured light is very pleasant to watch : Thanks to the very low definition we can experience the simple emotion of colour and movement conveying a great feeling of well-being. Our mind is able to relax, relieved from its mission of analysing the image’s meaning, simply playing with pure colour, responding to its language (brain waves : beta-> alpha) Thanks to the Tvbeeboo screen accessory : - You can watch TV with a very low definition and turn it into a lighting device : « tvlamp » - You can turn the images from the TV into an abstract animated work of art : the artistic sub-reality of the television broadcast - You can remedy excessive tv watching - Your mind can relax and start to experience a state of meditation (alpha brain waves facilitator) - You can bathe in pure light energy and feed on the vibrating power of colour. *****
